6 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 12, 1998 BMT Seniors ° [J 'Nostalgi ; Stories’ At the Project Head Advisory Board Luncheon meeting held recently at the Genetti Conven- tion Center, Wilkes-Barre, awards were given to those members en- tering their “Nostalgia stories”. Among the 15 winners, there were five members of the Back Moun- tain Senior Citizens, with club president, Lillian Soveroski, be- ing in first place. Other winners were Katherine Hudak, vice presi- dent; Kaye Ray, publicity, Frances Sirochman, and Irene Katyl. Mrs. Soveroski’'s story was entitled “Papa and the Weeds”, a poignant story of a loving father teaching his children to rid themselves of the weeds of life as well as those of a garden. : ‘Hudak wrote of the trials and joys of attending a one room school house, to which the students had to walk since transportation was not provided. Ray submitted a piece of her father’s effort to feed victims of the great depression, and the interesting people who would arrive at their door each day. A deceased sister was the subject of Sirochman'’s story and Katyl rendered an account of her father. Contestants received a ribbon and a gift. Peg Adamitz and Sovoveroski also entered crafts for the Exhibit Table.
