Bryan McCleary, the local Air Force Recruiter. Joe is a 1997 graduate of Lake- Lehman High School. He will be enlisted in the regular Air Force on September 2. Upon gradua- tion from a six week basic training course at Lackland Air Force Base near San Antonio, Texas, he is scheduled to receive technical training as a munitions systems apprentice. Joe will be earning credits to- ward an associate degree in ap- plied sciences through the Com- munity College of the Air Force while attending basic and techni- cal training school. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Bradley E. Scott, son of Ida L. Scott of Lehman, recently reported for duty at Naval Air Station Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA. Scott's rotation to a new duty station exemplifies the worldwide assignability of Marines and Sail- ors. This flexibility allows our naval forces to protect U.S. na- tional interests by serving as the principal enforcers of peacetime engagement, deterrence and cri- sis response around the world. The 1993 graduate of Lake- Lehman High School, Lehman, joined the Navy in August 1993. Army Pvt. Michael Huntzinger has entered basic military train- ing at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC. During the eight weeks of train- ing, the soldier will study the Army mission and will receive instruc- tion in drill and ceremonies, mili- tary justice, first aid, Army his- tory and traditions, and special training in human relations. Huntzinger is the son of Donna M. and Michael Huntzinger, Dal- las. He is a 1998 graduatre of West Side Area Vocational Technical High School, Pringle. Army Spec. Leonard P. Azarauich has graduated from the Mountain Leader Close Com- bat Certificate Course (MLCCCC) at Fort Drum, Watertown, NY. The week-long course is a hands-on, train the trainer pro- gram designed to produce highly trained and proficient infantry squad leaders, platoon leaders and platoon sergeants assigned to small units. The graduate was instructed at the Military Operations in Urban Terrain site and participated in numerous exercises, which con- cluded with a realistic, real-life type exercise. Azarauich is the son of Theresa and Robert Azarauich, Harveys Lake. He is a 1993 graduate of Lake- Lehman High School, Lehman. Pilgrim Virgin Statue in Carverton Heights Kids make care kits for VISION Recently John D. Kirwan of the VISION staff accepted personal care kits for the men who were housed at Trucksville United, Methodist Church. The kits were made by the children of the church during Vacation Bible School. Presenting the kits were: front row, Virginia Reinert, Timothy Reinert, Katelyn Reinert, Ryan Williams. Local officials to canvass area for unlicensed dogs According to Eugene Dziak, Regional Dog Law Supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, sales for dog licenses in the county are reportedly low to date. For this reason Luzerne County will be the focal point of a Regional convass for unlicensed dogs. Under the canvass system, dog wardens from the Department's Regional Office in Tunkhannock will form teams to call on owners of unlicensed dogs. Licenses are required for all dogs three months of age and older. The license can be bought at the Treasurer's Office in your County. The fee is $6 for spayed or neutered dogs and $8 for other dogs. Owners should present proof that their dogs are spayed or neutered. Senior Citizens who provide proof that they are 65 or older pay $4 for spayed or neu- tered dogs and $6 for other doses. .
