6 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, August 5, 1998 'Cut-a-thon' to aid Ricki Sue Country Scissors will hold its second annual Cuts for Cause, a hair cut-a-thon, Sat., Aug. 15, to benefit fire victim Ricki Sue Shotwell. The cut-a-thon is Coun- try Scissors’ annual fund raising event to benefit the community and those in need. Last year’s event was a huge success and helped the Catherine McAuley House, a shelter for women and children with a donation of over $1,000. The staff of Country Scissors will be performing hair cuts at the salon, located at 163 South Main Street, Shavertown (behind Cook's Pharmarcy) on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost for the haircuts during the event is only $10 with all proceeds going to the Ricki Sue Shotwell Fund. In addition to the cut-a-thon, a raffle is being held with prizes from many local busiensses do- nating some great items. Tickets are on sale at the salon now. The grand prize in the raffle includes limousine service, provided by Touch of Class Limousine, to transport the winner and a friend for a Day of Beauty at Country Scissors including facials, mani- cures, make-up applications and hair styles, followed by limo trans- portation to Yesterday's restau- rant for a wonderful dinner for two. Baskets loaded with products and gift certificates donated by businesses like T.G.I Fridays, Country Traditions, Hillside Farms, Sylvia Kropp’s Avon, Wild Pines Golf Club and Wildflowers are on display at the salon and await the other winners. Leigh Pawling to be featured in art show Leigh Pawling from Kingston is a featured artist in a group show at the Raab Gallery in Philadelphia. The opening reception is 6-9 on Aug. 8 with a gallery walk 6-9 on Aug. 28. The show ends Sept. 2. Pawling’s work is repesentational with distinctive energy and color.
