Reds 7 - Red Sox 6 Mike English was the winning pitcher striking out eight. En- glish and Cory Shultz each had two hits and Kenny Regan doubled for the winners. The highlights for the Red Sox were Gene Lispi’'s triple and Matt Rattigan’s out- standing catch in center field. Pirates 11 - Indians 1 Gracjan Kraszewski struck out six in five innings to post the victory. Kraszewski, Grant Rob- erts and Kyle Poluske had two hits a piece for the Pirates. Dodgers 15 - Rangers 6 Kyle Filipczyk went three for four to lead the Dodger offense. Alex Kensgaard had two singles and Alex Flack doubled and played stellar defense for the winners. Adam Cooper pitched a complete game to earn the victory. For the Rangers, Mike Darling and Phil Engler each collected two hits and Knights will play for district crown Lake-Lehman downed Old Forge 8-4 behind Greg Woronko's strong arm and bat. Woronko, right, pitched a six-hit complete game, striking out six, and went 3-for-4 at the plat with three RBI. Greg Andrusisian struck out six in earning the win. Chris Kester collected two hits for the Rangers. Reds 17 - Tigers 9 Luke Marchakitus pitched and batted the Reds over the Tigers. He picked up three hits, including a double. Mike English had three hits, Kenny Regan got two and Ryan Bloom doubled to contrib- ute to the Reds offense. Adam King led the Tigers with two hits. Drew Slocum nominated for hockey award Drew Slocum, Shavertown, was Ei, recently nominated by the North- eastern Pennsylvania Youth Hockey Association for the 1997- 98 Neil Wolssiefer Sportsmanship Award. Drew, age 8, was one of five nominees for the award which is given each year by the association to the athlete who best represents the hockey association in sports- manship and athletic achieve- ment.
