Swanson received the award for‘ excellence in teaching core curriculum, while Moran's award was for his work in professional programs. The winners were se- lectéd’ by current Misericordia stu- dents and the class of 1997. “Swanson of Lehman is an as- sistant. professor of philosophy and has taught at Misericordia since 1995. He holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in philosephy from the University of Missouri-Columbia and received his doctoral degree in 1995. Prior to coming to Misericordia, he was a. visiting instructor at Central Missouri State University. He has ‘received the Graduate Stu- dent Teaching Award and the Superior Graduate Achievement Award. He served as the presi- dent of the Philosophy Graduate Student Association. Moran of Tunkhannock, is an associate professor of physical therapy who in 1992 joined the College as acting director of the physical therapy department and later that year joined the faculty. He holds a doctor of science in training and learning technolo- gies degree from Nova-Southeast- ern University, a master of sci- ¢énce degree in human resources administration from the Univer- sity. of Scranton and a bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from State University of New York- Stony Brook. «He has published numerous articles and papers and has re- ceived the Distinguished PT Alum- nus. Award from SUNY Stoneybrook and the Joan M. For two days they cared for bags of flour and rice, decorated to look like babies, to get a taste of what parenting is like.
