Rich Patton and Mike Woronko each laced three hits apiece while D.J. Kapson and Ed Sichler ripped two singles apiece. Fifteen of the Knights 16 hits were singles the lone extra base hit, a double, came off the bat on Rich Patton. Valley West 13, Dallas 6 J.J. Smith and Chuck Fehlinger both hit home runs for Dallas in a losing effort to Valley West April 29. With the score tied 6-6 enter- ing the sixth inning, the Spartans rallied for three in the sixth and four in the seventh to put the game out of reach. Ed Piekara was tagged with the loss after six innings allowing 11 hits and strik- ing out three. Dallas 14, Hanover 2 ‘John Habrack pitched four hit baseball May 1 to lead Dallas to a 14-2 rout over host Hanover. Habrack also helped his own cause at the plate lifting a two-run homer in the top of the first. Dallas’ six- run third inning was capped by Randy Knappman'’s solo homer. Dallas evens their record to 6-6. Lehman 8, Seminary 2 Lehman shelled out 13 hits in an 8-2 win over Wyoming Semi- nary May 1. The Knights gathered two hits apiece from Chad Sorber, Mike Woronko, Jason Perlis and Ed Sichler. Mike Hollos was the winner allowing eight hits and fanning one over six innings. Lehman 5, Seton 2 The Knights retained their un- blemished record with a 5-2 vic- tory over Seton Catholic May 4. Mike Woronko paced Lehman with two RBI and two runs scored while D.J. Kapson launched a solo homer in the seventh. Eric Maciejczak was credited with the win alter six innings allowing just three hits and striking out four. Lehman's record stands at 13-0. SOFTBALL Dallas 6, Hanover 3 Dallas rallied for a five-run third inning en route to a 6-3 victory over Hanover April 29. Sarah Stolarick went the distance allow- ing five hits and striking out three. Lehman 10, Hoban 0 Darby Wolfe went 4-for-4 and Nikki Newell 3-for-3 as Lehman battered Bishop Hoban 10-0 April 29. Tricia Kernag allowed just three hits over six innings for the win. Lehman 1, Seton 0 Lehman hurler Michelle Alters held Seton at bay until the offense took control in the eighth inning as the Knights squeezed past Se- ton Catholic 1-0 April 30. Alters silenced Seton's offense, allowing only one hit over eight innings and fanning 11. Darby Wolfe's single in the eighth drove home Kim Halowich for the game win- ner. Dallas 2, Crestwood 1 Sarah Stolarick tossed a com- plete game victory for Dallas May 4 as the Mounts edged Crestwood 2-1 at Dallas. Sherri Kuderka and Stephanie Simonitis both went 2- for-3 with Kuderka slamming two doubles and a RBI. The win in- creases Dallas’ record to .500 (5- B). SOCCER. * Valley West 5, Dallas 0 Valley West's offense was too much for Dallas to handle April 29 as the Lady Spartans dropped Dallas 5-0. The Spartans kept the heat on Dallas’ cage all afternoon leading on shots on goal 27-7. Melanie Sappe had 15 saves for the Mounts. Lehman 8, Crestwood 1 Kelly Spencer and Janelle Perlis combined for five goals as Leh- man crushed Crestwood 8-1 April 30. Spencer recorded a hat trick while Perlis sank two of her own. Sara Kasper and Hillary Pilosi rounded out the scoring for the victors. The Knights rattled the Comets cage with 23 shots on goal. Trish Pilosi denied six for Lehman. For information, call 675-9202. MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL Rangers 5, Red Sox 4 The Rangers won behind the solid pitching of Mike Darling and Phil Engler. Engler and Chris Kester were each 2-for-3 at the plate for the Rangers. Matt Kelly went 2-for-4 for the Red Sox. Dodgers 10, Reds 7 Alex Flack’s inside-the-park home run led the way for the Dodgers. Kyle Filipczyk and Alex Kensgaard each singled twice for the winners. Christian Cobleigh struck out seven in picking up the victory. For the Reds, Michael English’s 3-run homer was the big hit. Also contributing were Brandon Brown, who had two singles, and Luke Marchakitus, who doubled. Yankees 9, Rangers 6 The Yankees won behind the pitching and hitting of Nate Yoh. Yoh struck out seven on the mound and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Steve Fritz went 3-for-3 and Tim Kerestes went 2-for-4 with a triple for the Yankees. Four Rangers hitters, Ryan Marascio, Mike Darling, Ken Chamberlain, and Morgan Anderson, collected two hits each. Chamberlain’s hits included a double while Anderson's safeties included a triple. Red Sox 2, Yankees 0 Elijah Miller and Chris Higdon combined on a no-hitter for the Red Sox. Miller and Higdon each struck out eight in three innings on the mound. Frank Buzin, who surrendered only two unearned runs in the top of the 6th, was the hard-luck losing pitcher. Buzin struck out 13 while giving up only three hits and no walks. After two errors had led to the game's first run and put another runner in scoring position, Gene Lispi singled home the second run for the Red Sox. Miller and Matt Kelly had the only other hits in the game. In the bottom of the 6th, the Yankees had runners at second and third with none out, but Higdon secured the victory for the Red Sox with three consecu- tive strikeouts. Phillies 17, Pirates 0 Jonathan Wood, Eric Feinstein, Mark Kapitula and Matt Kapitula combined for 13 strikeouts and a 1-hit shutout. Feinstein had three hits, including an inside-the-park home run. Wood had three doubles while Richard Eckman had three hits, Mark Kapitula had two and Mike Wills had a double. Grant Roberts had the lone hit for the Pirates. Giants 5, Pirates 2 David Harding pitched six strong innings for the victory. Erich Mahle singled, doubled and homered for the Giants. Kyle Hession had two hits and two RBIs and Greg Andrusisian pitched a complete game for the Pirates. Phillies 18, Dodgers 0 Mark Kapitula and Eric Feinstein each pitched three in- nings to combine on a 1-hit shut- out. Kapitula and Mike Wills each hit a 3-run homer for their third home run of the season. Richard Eckman and Brandon Burkhardt each had three hits while Feinstein and Brandon Wills each had two. Christian Cobleigh singled for the Dodgers. MAJOR LEAGUE SOFTBALL Dodgers 24, Phillies 17 ; Alana and Nicole Allan each had three hits, including a double to power the Dodger offense. Abigail Wasserott was the win- ning pitcher. Red Sox 15, White Sox 1 Shannon Thomas tossed a 2- hitter. She struck out eight while walking only two. Dodgers 18, Cardinals 14 Stephanie Latosick doubled and was the winning pitcher for the Dodgers. Sara Killian led the Dodger defense, snagging several line drives. Sara Brown had a game-ending unassisted double play. HARVEYS LAKE LITTLE LEAGUE BH Angels 5 - HL Mets 2 Garrett Engle and Greg Kostrobala each had two hits for the Mets. Adam Julian ripped a run scoring triple and Derek White added an RBI double. HL Mets 7 - BH Red Sox 6 Vince Carboni’s run scoring single in the bottom of the sixth gave the Mets their first victory. Garrett Engle pitched four hitless innings fanning 11, while Zack Bielecki picked up his first major league win. Leading hitter was Chad Derhammer with two hits including a game tying home run. Paul Schweizer delivered a two-run single. E. Darby had a triple for the Red Sox. Basic Boating course offered at Dallas PA Fish and Boat Commission Basic Boating course to be held at the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s Northeast Regional Office, Rt. 415, Dallas,, Tues., May 19, and Wed., May 20, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Attendance is required both nights. Registration is required for the course. Seating is limited. The course will acquaint expe- rienced boaters with many as- pects of boating they are not aware of as well as changes in current regulations. This course will allow individuals 12 to 15 years of age to satisfy the mandatory minimum age require- ments for the operation of a mo- torboat and the new age require- ments for personal watercraft in Pennsylvania. Itis recommended that parents take the course along with their children.
