Gallery to offer opportunities for poets By KYLIE SHAFFERKOETTER Post Staff SHAVERTOWN - Leonard S. Roginski Sr. has thought of a way to supplement his Social Security while bringing poetry to the com- munity. He is opening The Poetry Gallery on Rt. 309, just below the Center St. light. Roginski plans to display and sell the works of ama- teur poets. The grand opening will be held May 9 at noon. Many people will be on hand to open the gallery, said Roginski. Dan Gallager from Christian Television will serve as auctioneer, Mike Stevens will to an ‘On the Road’ story, Col. Keith Martin will discuss opportunities for disabled veterans and the PA Organization for Human Life will attend to distribute carnations in honor of Mother’s Day. Roginski wrote his first poem for his late wife, Frances; 35 years ago. It’s entitled, I Love You When.. “I have to be inspired by an inci- dent to write,” he explained. He wrote a poem entitled, Songbirds of God after listening to the choir on Easter Sunday. Most of his poetry isreligious. “Ihave a strong faith. I feel the Lord has inspired me to do this. He has given me the idea to carry out my business and help me financially,” said Roginski, 68. I tried for years to get my poems published, but I'd have to pay them,” he said. Roginski urges poets to have their poems copyrighted. He has sold many of his poems for an asking price that can go up to $50. All poems are printed on stationary. He has one stipula- tion, he will not accept any poems with offensive language. LEONARD ROGINSKI SR. Roginski is a Korean War vet- eran, taught first aid for the Red Cross for 20 years and is a lifetime member of the Dallas Fire and Ambulance Company.
