Born Feb. 4, 1925, in Harris- burg, he was the son of the late Russell and Ida Wise Adams. He was a 1943 graduate of the John Harris High School, Harris- burg. Before retiring, he was em- ployed as a service foreman for the Bell Telephone Co. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War Il and was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, Post 672, Dal- las. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was preceded in death by brothers, Russell and Robert and a sister, Lou. Surviving are his wife, the _ former Betty Jane Funk; daugh- ters, Deborah Mitchell, Dallas; Michele Luke, Dallas; sons, Lawrence L. Before he retired in 1991, he was employed as an asbestos in- sulator with the Heat and Frost Insulators “Union Local 38 in Wilkes-Barre for 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Maternity, Wilkes- Barre. He was preceded in death by brothers, Delbert and James and a sister, Marilyn Klak. THOMAS ONZIK Thomas D. Onzik, 21, of Howell Road, Shavertown, died May 1, 1998, at home. Born in Edwardsville, July 17, 1976, he was the son of Thomas F. and Charlene Onzik. After moving to Shavertown, he graduated from Dallas Area High School and attended Luzerne County Community College. He was employed by Edward Wasko Tree Service, Wyoming, as a tree climber. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Roman Catholic Church, Carverton, Kingston Township. Surviving in addition to his parents are his brothers, Paul, Mitchell and Nicholas, all at home; maternal grandparents, Dr. Samuel J. and Genevieve Puma, Kingston; paternal grandparents, John and Antoinette Onzik, Leh- man Township; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. ROBERT TRIPP ‘Robert W. Tripp, 79, of Harveys Lake, died at Hospice Community Care Inpatient Unit at Mercy Hos- pital, Wilkes-Barre. BornJune 9, 1918, inJohnson City, NY, he was the son of the late Alden and Harriet Willett Tripp. He was educated in theJohnson City school system and as ayoung man was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Army Infantry in the Pacific and was honorably dis- charged with the rank of staff sergeant. He was employed by Endicott- ~ Johnson Corp., and the Johnson City Central School District. He was also employed by the Dallas School District retiring in 1981.
