Recently the Dallas Middle School Parent Support Group heard a presentation by Ms. Norine Amesbury, student council advisor, on the many school-wide activities that are held each year. Community fund raisers, school theme days, spirit days, and dances were some of the activities that were explained. A student produced video on the S.P.C.A. was also shown. Ms. Amesbury was aided by student council representatives from each grade who gave their personal insights as to the importance of the council sponsored events. Misericordia to hold open house March 21 College Misericordia invites high school juniors and seniors and their parents to the annual Open House at its Dallas campus. Open House will be held on Sat., March 21 from 9:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m. The College offers students an opportunity to spend a fun and informative Saturday touring the facilities, meeting Misericordia stu- dents and faculty and talking with admissions counselors and staff. Guest conductor was Dr. Peggy Dettwiler, Associate Professor of Music and director of choral activities at Mansfield University. The O'Reilly students were among 172 students representing over 40 schools from Northeastern Pennsylvania. The students in attendance qualified at preauditions held at Abington Heights High School last October. Major students take home awards Eighteen dance and vocal students of Major Performing Arts Center in Trucksville recently earned a total of 32 top awards at the regional “Faces of the Future” competition in Philadelphia. They won 17 first places, 15, second and third places, along with High Point awards to soloists and groups in tap, pantomime, vocal, novelty dance and one MPAC student was named the Overall Young Talent Titlist earning the highest average scores of any soloist at the event. Bryn Harvey, daughter of Jay and Judy Harvey of Trucksville, won a 2nd place in vocal solo, 2nd place in duo tap novelty, along with earning the junior high point award in tap.
