Asphalt E.M. Video 30 - American Asphalt 27 : Shannon Thomas and Kristen Schmidt's inside outside game combined for 25 points as E.M. Video stayed tied for first place with III Guys Pizza. The first quarter scoring explosion had Thomas hitting for 7 of her game high 13 points followed by Schmidt with 4 DYB 5-6 GIRLS ‘points and Sarah Pieczynski hit- ting for 1 of her 5 points. E.M. Video's Lauren Norika’s strong defensive play held American As- phalt to 4 points but Katie Smith's good defense held E.M. Video to 4 points to end the half 16-14 E.M. Video. American Asphalt’s Lauren Suppon hit for 2 of her 6 points to end third quarter to stay within 4 at the end of three 24-20. Ameri- can Asphalt came within 1 in the fourth quarter but the inside play of Krisen Schmidt was too strong as E.M. Video picked up the vic- tory. E.M. Video's defense was led by Tiffany Gergel, Samantha O’Brien and Shosanna Gitlin. American Asphalt's Jamie Youngblood scored 2 points and Crystal Derhammer had 2 points. Eastern Insurance 16 - Sneaker King 15 Halli Williams, lit up scoreboard with 14 of her team’s 16 points and Eastern Insurance held on to win the game 16-15." The defen- sive first quarter ended with Sneaker King up 4-2. Williams scored 6 points, while holding Sneaker King to a single bucket by Brooke Blase to go with her 6 game points to end the half 8-6 Eastern Insurance. Nikki Gelso hit a key bucket in the third quar- ter while Sydney Guelich hit one of two at the free throw line to end the third 12-9 Eastern Insurance. Jennifer Konopki nailed a field goal in the fourth while Eastern Insurance held on for the win. Playing strong defense for East- ern Insurance were Amanda Szczucki, Megan Savage, Bridget Henry, Kelly Corbett and Chris- tina Dombroski. Contributing for Sneaker King’s offense was Caitlin Dukas with 4 points, while Alyssa Austin and Jessica Kostrezewski played a good defense. Ill Guy’s Pizza 18 - Star Rehabilitation 6 Rosalyn Wentko and Kara Ringler's 6 points apiece led III Guy's Pizza to victory. Kara Ringler hit for two buckets while III Guy's defense held Star scoreless for a 6-2 half- time lead. III Guy's Pizza opened up the fourth with 10 points to put the game away 18-6. Lehman 56, Hanover 52 After scoring only four points, a third period slump nearly cost Lehman a victory but they came back to redeem themselves with a 19-13 advantage in the final stanza to drop Hanover 56-52 Jan. 26. Marissa Michaels put on a long ball seminar draining five from three-point territory and ended the night with 19 points. Kelly Spencer ended the night with 15 points. Meyers 46, Dallas 36 The Lady Mounts drop to 1-3 in second half standings following a 46-36 loss to Meyers Jan. 26. BOYS BASKETBALL Dallas 90, Seton Catholic 85 Dallas took a 10-5 advantage in the third overtime to ultimately extinguish Seton 90-85 Jan 24. J.J. Smith sacked a game high 30 points while Ed Piekara pitched in 18 and Jonathan Saba 17. The Mounts benefitted from 49 trips to the free throw line converting 34 while Seton was 20 of 32 from the line. Bishop Hafey 53, Lehman 47 The Knights came alive in the fourth quarter netting a 20-13 advantage but their effort was unsuccessful as Hafey held off Lehman 53-47 Jan. 22. WRESTLING Hanover 59, Dallas 8 The Hawks went on an 11 bout run before Dallas got their first decision as Hanover upended Dallas 59-8 Jan. 21. Matt Gingo (189) and Frank Perkoski (hwt) prevented the Mountaineers from being shutout with a major deci- sion apiece in closing bouts. Coughlin 33, Lehman 33 Both squads ended the night with identical 33 point scores but Coughlin took the decision on cri- teria after winning seven bouts to Lehman's six Jan. 21 in Wilkes- Barre. Both teams traded victo- ries in the first four bouts before the Crusaders bounced back with a pin and a decision to take the early lead. The Knights then won three in arow as Jason Harris and Eric Maciejczak both secured pins and Sam Saylor a decision before Coughlin leveled the next two. Mick Konigus won the 189 by forfeit before Steve Sarbaugh pol- ished off the Knights with a deci- sion in the heavyweight round. The loss gives the Knights (6-1) their first blemish on a previously undefeated season. Pittston 53, Dallas 24 Pittston chalked up five pins to take a 53-24 victory over Dallas Jan. 24. Dallas reaped pins of their own from Joe Saraka (119), Dave Spurlin (135) and Frank Perosky (hwt). Lehman 65, Wyoming 6 The Knights won all but one bout to run up a 65-6 score and cruise past the Warriors Jan. 24. Dallas High Soccer Club meets Feb. 3 The Dallas High School Boys Soccer Booster Club will hold their monthly meeting on Tues., Feb. 3, at 7 p.m. at the Dallas Family Practice conference room. Plans for the March 22 craft show will be discussed, also the election of officers will take place. All soccer parents are asked to attend.
