A school spokesperson said the event would probably net about $12,000. The decorations committee brightened the gym and entrances with flowers, carved pumpkins and other fall features. POST PHOTOS/RON BARTIZEK An #7 a DISTRICT COURT BRIEFS i Caller leads police to robbery suspect Kingston resident Mark Alan Williams, 37, was arrested Oct. 6 by Jackson Township patrolman James Karlowicz after police re- ceived a call that Williams was wanted for robbery and driving a van into the area. The call was reportedly made by a man who knew Williams’ identity and was following him. Karlowicz drove to Hillside Rd. where the two men were driving. Both vehicles pulled into where the officer was parked. Aman ran- up to the officer and told him Williams was wanted by both the Wilkes-Barre and Scranton po- lice. Police observed Williams speech was slurred and his eyes were glassy. Williams had a driver's license and a pink slip for the van he was driving. He told Karlowicz the van was not insured. 2 Wilkes-Barre police sent a de- tective to talk to Williams, who | 1 confessed that he was at the place," 4 in question when a robbery took place. 1 | After Williams signed a waiver, police searched his van where they found needles, heroin and stolen | property. A small container with | cocaine in it was found on Will- iams. He was taken to Wilkes- Barre General Hospital for a uri- | nalysis. He was charged with driving | under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a revoked license and not driving at a safe - speed. A related charge of operat-.. ing without proper permits was dismissed. FACES THEFT CHARGE IN 1996 CASE Wilkes-Barre resident David Petrikonis was arrested August 19 by Kingston Township patrolman Michael Moravec for a burglary on May 22, 1996. Petrikonis allegedly stole items out of a person’s car behind their home. A search for Petrikonis was fruitless until August 1997. In a statement to police, he said he took the items from the person’s car | and that someone who was a juvenile at the time helped. He is charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking. HARRASSMENT Trucksville resident Mark McMurtry, 36, was arrested Sept. 27 by | Kingston Township patrolman James Ibbotson after police were called : to a domestic altercation at Meadowcrest Apartments. = McMurtry was fined S100 plus court costs for harrassment..A;s related charge of simple assault was dismissed.
