* 2 ° The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, September 10, 1997 a | Civil War Roundtable will meet Sept. 17 : The Wyoming Valley Civil War Roundtable will begin thel997- 98 season with its first meeting on S¢pt. 17 at the Daddow- Isaacs American Legion, Route 415, Dal- las, across from Picketts Charge Restaurant at 7 p.m. The pro- gram for the evening will be Civil War ‘author Tom Dejardin who will be discussing his book “Stand Firm. Ye Boys From Maine”, the complete story of the 20th Main Regiment in the Gettysburg Cam- paign fromJune21-July 10, 1863. Dejardin has studied the story since first visiting the battlefield at age 10. ,The book traces the develop- ment of alegend as veterans of the fight-tried to remember, under- stand and memorialize their part inthe largest battle ever fought on this .continent. The book also examines how modern histiography contributed to the legendary status of the fight. ‘Tom Dejardin was born and raised in Maine and received his bdchelor's and master’s degree from Florida State University. He did his doctoral work in History at the University of Maine and worked as an interpreter giving programs on the Gettysburg Battlefield for the National Park Service. A book signing will also take place. The program is open to the public at a cost of $3 for non- members. Harveys Lake Legion will hold flea market Harveys Lake American Legion will hold a flea market, Sat., Sept. 13 at the post home, Rt. 415, Harveys Lake, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Tables at $10 may be reserved by calling 675-0104 or 639-5500. Sibling class to be held September 16 Wyoming Valley Health Care System will offer a Sibling Class for children ages three to 10 who are awaiting the arrival of a new baby brother or sister. Classes will be held Tues., Sept. 16 from 7-8 p.m. on the first floor of Nesbitt Memorial Hospital, 562 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston. Children will learn how to properly hold a newborn and will receive a tour of the Obstetric Suite. The Sibling Class is designed to promote family bonding and decrease the anxiety siblings may feel with the arrival of the newborn. This class is coordinated by the Family Outreach Community Services Department of Wyoming Valley Health Care System. Bulman, et ux, to DISTRICT COURT BRIEFS 2 Police say they caught man molesting 12-year-old boy ~ According to police reports, Robert Lee Holeman, 53, of 5 Shaver Ave., Dallas Twp., was caught in the act of sexually mo- lesting a 12-year-old boy Sat., Sept. 6 at about 10:45 p.m. , Patrolmen Jeffrey Dennis, of the Dallas Twp. police, and Dave Rinehimer of the Dallas Borough police responded to a report of a disturbance outside the home. When they entered the home, Dennis and Rinehimer saw Holeman and the boy on a bed in the home’s bedroom. After the victim ran from the room, Holeman resisted attempts by Dennis, Rinehimer and Kingston Twp. of- ficers Frank Ziegler and Robert Ibbotson to handcuff him. The boy was taken to Nesbitt Hospital where Dr. John F. Devine confirmed he had been sexually assaulted. In testimony taken by Larry Fabian of the Luzerne County District Attorney's office, the boy said Holeman threatened to choke him if he made too much noise during the attack. Holeman was arraigned before District Justice James Tupper, and faces 17 charges, including multiple counts for the alleged assault and one count of resisting arrest. He is being held in the Luzerne County jail in lieu of post- ing $100,000 cash bail. A prelimi- nary hearing is set for Sept. 16. PLEADS GUILTY TO DISORDERLY CONDUCT Tunkhannock resident Joseph Belcher, 21, pled guilty to disor- derly conduct before District Jus- tice James Tupper. He was ar- rested by Dallas Township patrol- man Jeffrey J. Dennis July 5 after police responded to a disturbance near E. Center Hill Rd. and Mid- land Dr. Belcher and another man were fighting when police arrived. Belcher ran from police and attempted to escape them. Belcher’s blood alcohol level was determined to be .150. ASSAULT, OTHER CHARGES Nanticoke resident Christopher Shone, 25, was arrested by Harveys Lake Borough patrolman James Karlowicz July 25 after policeresponded toa call at Desi’s in Dallas. Shone was loud and unruly, police said. He faces charges of simple as- sault, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and possession of drug paraphernalia after a hear- . ing. Related charges of reckless endangerment, harrassment and possession of marijuana were dis- missed. D.U.L. After failing field sobriety tests, he was taken to the Luzerne County DUI Center where his blood alcohol level was determined tobe .158. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, not stopping at a stop sign and failing to keep right. » Wilkes-Barre resident Kevin R. Murphy, 25, who was arrested by Dallas Township patrolman Jeffrey Dennis July 7 after police observed him driving erratically i on Rt..309."
