Born in Swoyersville, he was the son of the late George and Veronica Grisiatis Antanitis, He lived in Trucksville, Kington Town- ship, since 1947. He graduated from the former Luzerne High School in 1934. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater dur- ing World War II. He was employed as a miner. Later he worked for Linde Broth- ers, Honesdale, until his retirment in 1981. He was a member of St. Ann's Church, Luzerne and Local 158 Laborers Union. He was a charter member of Rose Hill Rod & Gun Club and served as an immediate past president. He was a former member of V.F.W. Anthracite Post 283, Kingston. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Cora Gerlach; a grandson, Clyde J. Southworth; sister, Helen Antanitis. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Pokorny, Shavertown; a son, Robert Antanitis, Benton; a step- son, Clyde Southworth Jr., Shaverotwn; nine grandchildren. He was a member of the Noxen United Methodist Church, served as secretary of its Sunday School for 34 years and was a board member and trustee of the church. He formerly served as treasurer of the Monroe Township School District. He and his wife, the former Dorothy Gilmore, celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary inJune. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kyle Denmon.
