CHARGES ~~ The following defendants waived their rights to preliminary hearings before District Justice James Tupper: e Paul Alampi, 45, West Pittston, who was arrested May 7 after Kingston Township patrol- man James Ibbotson saw his ve- hicle weave across lanes on Rt. 309 and E. Center St. After failing field sobriety tests, Alampi was taken for a blood alcohol test at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where he refused to take the test. People who refuse to take the blood alcohol test lose their driver's li- cense for one year. s James Coulter, 33, Exeter, who was arrested June 14 after Dallas Township patrolman Brian Feeney saw his vehicle weave across lanes on Rt. 309. After failing field sobriety tests, Coulter ‘was taken for a breath test at the Luzerne county Central Process- ing Center, where the level of alco- hol was found to be .167. Coulter was also arrested for driving under the influence of al- cohol on May 5 after Kingston Tewnship patrolman James Ibbotson saw his vehicle weave across lanes on Carverton Rd. Coulter was taken for a blood alcohol test at Wilkes-Barre Gen- eral Hospital, where the level of alcohol was found to be .232, Hire than twice the legal limit. ‘e David A. Slagan, 35, Wilkes- Barre, who was arrested April 30 after Kingston Township patrol- man Wade Curtis saw his vehicle weave across lanes on Rt. 309. After failing field sobriety tests, Slagan was taken for a blood alco- hol test at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, where the level of alco- hol was found to be .120. Ce Matthew G. Derhammer, 19, Dallas, who was arrested March 20 after Lake Township patrol- man John Fuches responded to a one-vehicle accident on Maple Tree F, > Rd. Derhammer was unconscious and flown to Robert Packer Hos- pital in Sayre. A search warrant was issued for the driver's blood alcohol level. His blood alcohol level was .09. CREDIT CARD VIOLATIONS e Adam Bixler, 23, Wilkes- Barre,was arrested June 3 after Dallas Township patrolman Dou- glas Higgins found he had charged numerous toll calls to Michael Marino’s credit card number. Bixler told police that he found a credit card receipt on the ground and used the number to make the calls. STALKING CHARGES * Mark Nemetz, 23, Courtdale, was arrested May 30 by Jackson Township patrolman Scott A. Davis after he was found stalking Lake Township patrolman John Fuches on Rt. 118. Nemetz is a suspect in a criminal case cur- rently being investigated by Ross Township Police. Fuches is a witness in the case and Nemetz has allegedly threatened him ver- bally prior to this incident. THEFT * ..Joseph Urevitch, 39, Courtdale, was arrested Feb. 28 by Dallas Township patrolman Douglas Higgins after it was dis- covered he had stolen electronic equipment from the Dallas School District. Various items Urevitch gave away was found to have se- rial numbers matching those of items stolen from the high school. Stolen items include a cam corder, printer and computer monitor. e Ronald Visneski, 40, Noxen, was arrested May 16 by Harveys Lake Borough patrolman Mark Karlonis after he allegedly went to Shirley Hanson's residence where he yelled and pounded on the door and drove off in Hanson's son's truck. Police found Visneski at his home where Hanson's truck sat his driveway. Sweet Valley office to be closed thru July 28 “Rep. George C. Hasay (R-117) recently advised residents that his Sweet Valley district office will be closed through July 25, and will reopen on Mon., July 28. If Sweet Valley area residents have a problem that requires immedi- ate attention next week, they are asked to contact Rep. Volunteer drivers needed for Red Cross Volunteer drivers are needed - for the Wyoming Valley Chapter, American Red Cross to transport volunteers to blood collections and assist in the transportation of blood and blood products to local hospitals. ~ Volunteer drivers are required to be at least 18 years of age and have a current PA drivers license. Jerry Bonner received the Cliff Bigelow advocate of the year for consistently working for a better quality of life for citizens with mental retardation. Officers were elected and The Arc’s Bell Choir, Dancers and Choral group performed. Nancy Thaler, State Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare spoke about changes in care for people with mental retardation throughout the state and nation.Murray Popky served as chairman of the dinner.
