Hp) W 5) Pe The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, June 11,1997 3 Trucker (continued from page 1) equipped with direct satellite com- munications to the main office. His wife Diane explained that she can call the office anytime and the call is directly transferred to the truck cab. The life of a truck driver is certainly not always so safe and certain. Mary Foltz , the first grade teacher who arranged for this meeting between the children and their trucking buddy, passed around a picture of the truck with its windshield smashed by a rock thrown from an overpass. First grader Greg Heindel wonders ex- actly what work the trucker really does, “like do you have to unload the truck?” - Lake Noxen's #1 Trucker Buddy, Frederici is burly and somewhat gruff, but eagerly poses for some group pictures. Gingerly and tenderly he scoops up Leigh Ann Kern, plops her in his lap, and — obviously reveling in the moment plays windmill with her arms. “Do you even wear a t- shirt in winter” the kids want to know. “Sometimes,” Wayne re- plies. . The class then marches out- side to inspect quite closely the jazzy royal blue truck cab that Wayne calls home most of the week. He piles the children high in the top bunk, then fills the bottom bunk and snuggles be- tween them. Wayne takes out his camera and insists that he take all “his” pictures first. There is special and close feeling he has. for these children. John Parsons got a close look at the big rig's cab.
