Hailed by the Boston Globe as a “charismatic performer and singer,” Rogers is a man with a powerful physical presence—close to six and a half feet tall—with a voice to match. He combines extraordinary and memorable songwriting with over-the-top humour and lightning-quick wit, winning raves from audiences across the U.S. and Canada. Rogers was barely out of high school, when he began touring as full-time musician with his older brother Stan's band. Together they formed what has come to be accepted as one of the most influential acts in North American folk music. Concerned about the homeless and hungry, he requests that audience members bring non- perishable food or personal care items to the June 13 concert t6 be donated to the local St. Vincent DePaul food bank. Resolutely inde- pendent, Rogers has turned down offers from major labels to do his music his own way on the independent Snow Goose label. His just- released seventh solo recording “Night Drive” is a powerful, raw and moving collection of songs—"his best yet,” according to the Ottawa Citizen. Opening for Rogers will be Baltimore singer-songwriter Andrew Lawrence. Recordings of both artists will be available for purchase at the Chicory House concert. Admission to the concert, Fri., June 13 at 8 p.m. is $7 for members and $8 for non-members. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Seating is first-come, first-served.
