Be “20 » D.UL CHARGES - The following people waived their rights to a preliminary hear- ing before District Justice Tupper on March 25: ~o Dallas resident Mark E. Kimsel, 38, who was arrested Jan. 19 by Kingston Township patrol- man James Ibbotson after police responded to an accident on Rt. 309. One driver involved in the accident told police he believed Kimsel to be intoxicated. He said the defendant was stumbling around and slurring his words. Kimsel could not participate in field sobriety tests. A blood test showed his blood alcohol level to be .231. - Two related charges of careless driving and driving under the in- fluence of alcohol and a controlled substance were dismissed. * Swoyersville resident Michael A. Perrella, 39, who was arrested on Jan. 17 by Kingston Township patrolman James Ibbotson after police observed him driving er- Iatically on Rt. 309 and Main Rd. ~ Perrella refused a field and Breath sobriety test. He told po- lice. he was drunk and that they ught him. “He was charged with driving {rider the influence of alcohol, careless driving and disregard for a traffic lane. ..'» Shavertown resident Gerald Wyeallis, 21, who was arrested Feb. 9 by Dallas Township patrol- man Jeffrey J. Dennis after police observed the defendant's vehicle only had the parking lights on at ‘night on Rt. 415. When Dennis activated his emergency lights, Wyeallis began to speed up to 75 mph on Rt. 415, skidding par- tially sideways as he abruptly turned right onto Main St. in Dal- las. During this turn, Wycallis cut off another driver and endan- gered others. He proceeded up Main St. at speeds up to 70 mph. He stopped when he saw a Dallas Borough patrol car coming towards him from the direction of Mark II res- taurant. The defendant was ar- gumentative, but did submit to a field sobriety test and a breath test. He failed the field test and his blood alcohol level was .165. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, fleeing or attempting to elude po- lice, driving without lights, care- less driving and disregard for traf- ficlane. Related charges of failure | DISTRICT COURT BRIEFS to stop at red signal, disregard for duties at stop sign and disregard for driving at a safe speed were dismissed. e Tunkhannock resident Brad H. Ransom, 39, was arrested Feb. 1 by Kingston Township patrol- man Charles Rauschkolb after someone reported a driver in a blue Toyota was swerving on Rt. 309 and appeared to be intoxi- cated. Police observed the defen- dant driving erratically on Rt. 309. After being pulled over, Ransom told police he had been drinking and was trying to get back to his friend’s house in Shavertown. After failing field sobriety tests, he took a blood test which showed his blood alcohol level to be . 193. He was charged with driving un- der the influence of alcohol and careless driving. * Dallas resident Jason Hall, 22, was arrested Dec. 1 by Dallas Township patrolman Robert Jolley after he skidded into a yard on Lower Demunds Rd. Hall asked the owner of the house if he could borrow jumper cables because he couldn't get his car started. He also told police that another car, dark in color, forced him off the road and into the yard. When asked to describe the car again, he told police it was a light blue color. A blood alcohol test showed his blood alcohol level to be .134. SCHOOL JANITOR FACES THEFT CHARGES Courtdale resident Joseph Urevitch, 39, was arrested Feb. 28 by Dallas Township patrolman Douglas Higgins after police were called to Dallas Middle School after Urevitch was found putting school property in his truck. Police said between Nov. 1 and Feb. 28, Urevitch, a janitor at the school, took items from the school's basement, including an RCA Cam Corder, a printer, a computer and a computer moni- tor. The defendant was employed part-time in the engineering de- partment at WVIA. Between March 4 and March 10, four em- ployees of WVIA called police about computer equipment given to them by Urevitch. William B. Bucksbee, Hallstead, was the driver of a tractor-trailer that overturned on Rt. 309 March 26. Bucksbee said he did not see the turn signal of a car in front of his truck and swerved to the right to avoid hitting the car. He drove the truck onto the soft shoulder and down a small embankment where it flipped on its side. Bucksbee was taken to Nesbitt Hospital and treated for minor injuries.
