Born in Mount Pleasant, he ~ was the son of the late Stephen and Anna Sroka Gdosky. He graduated from Connellsville High School and Ross Leffler School of Conserva- tion. He served in the U.S. Navy dur- ing World War II. From 1957 until 1990, he served as a game protector for the Pennsylvania Game Commission Northeast Region, Dallas. In 1987, he earned the Chic Shafari Award as outstanding game protector officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He also received an award from the Marlin Fire- arms Co. for teaching youth about firearm safety. He was a member of Gate of Heaven Church, Dallas, and Back Mountain Police Association. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, the former Joan Logue; brothers, William and Robert, both of Melcroft; sisters, Mary Chereka, Melcroft; Joann Parks, Pittsburgh; Jacqueline Pritts, Fairmont, MN. Bornin Copenhagen, Denmark, - she was the daughter of the late Elnar and Marie Goldziehr Voigt. She was employed as a travel agent by Danish Automobile Ser- vice. After Denmark was occu- pied by the German army, she worked with the Danish Resis- tance until she was forced to flee. After three months of traveling with the resistance underground, she journeyed to Portugal. In 1941 she came to America and settled in the Wyoming Valley. She was fluent in seven languages. She served as treasurer of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Pink Ladies for 30 years. ‘She was a board member of Planned Parenthood and a mem- ber of Trinity Presbyterian Church, Dallas. She volunteered her ser- vices to the American Red Cross; American Heart Association and American Cancer Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mortimer R. Gold- smith dJr., and a sister, Ellen Stern Bentley. Surviving are a daughter, Nancy Ellen Goldsmith, Marshfield, MA; a son, Michael R., Dallas; seven grandchildren and a great-grand- son.
