Lake Twp. collects newspaper March 15
Newspaper will be collected at the Lake Township drop off center on
Route 29 on Sat., March 15, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Paper should be
packed in paper bags and all glossy inserts removed.
Events to mark awareness month
In celebration of “National Mental Retardation Awareness Month”
observed during the month of March, Karen Belli, president and Bill
Lambert, Chairman, have announced the following events will take
place.
Sun., March 16, at 2 p.m., an interfaith service for people with
Mental retardation, their families and friends at the First Presbyterian
Church, corner of East Northampton and North Franklin Streets, a
reception will follow.
Members and friends of the Arc are invited to an Arc Open House to
“Help the Arc Plan for the Future” at the Arc office, March 19, 1-8 p.m.
Staff and board members will be on hand to discuss ideas and
recommendations for needed services to better serve people with
special needs and their families.

1997 officers
Dallas Fire & Ambulance Inc.
recently installed their officers for
the 1997 year at their annual
installation /dinner dance Feb. 15.
The event was held at the “Apple
Tree Terrace” at Newberry Estates
in Dallas.
This year’s event featured 20
year service awards to five mem-
bers. They are Brett Slocum,
Francis Barry Jr., John Wega, Bill
Shaffer and Chris Purchell. In
addition, the organization made a
special presentation to its five
honorary members for their past
and present contributions of time
and talents to the organization.
The five honorary members are:
Atty. Tom Brennan, Drew Fitch,
David Fitch, Ronald Fitch and
Leon Brokenshire.
Honorary Members: Seated, Leon Brokenshire,
Drew Fitch. Standing, Ronald Fitch, David Fitch
and Atty. Tom Brennan.

muscle tone, enhances posture
and circulation, and increases
vitality. Instructors follow Ameri-
can College of Obstetrics and Gy-
necology guidelines. Physician
consent is required.

Lambert named Employee of Quarter
At a recent presentation, Bindery Department employee, Holly
Lambert, was recognized as Offset Paperback’s Employee of the
Quarter for the fourth quarter of 1996. Holly began her career at
Offset Paperback in 1984 in the Order Fulfillment Department and
later transferred to the Bindery Department. Holly is described by
her co-workers and supervisors as very conscientious, cooperative
and dependable. In addition, Holly was recognized for her acute
attention to quality and the number of various jobs she has learned
in the department.
As Employee of the Quarter, Holly received the Employee of the
Quarter Certificate, preferred parking, a gift certificate for dinner for
two and a $200 savings bond.

Williams wins Weidner award
The Offset Paperback’s Central Safety Committee recently
announced Dale Williams as recipient of the Annual Don Weidner
‘Safety & Health Award. The Don Weidner Safety & Health Award
is presented in honor and memory of Donald Weidner who served
Offset Paperback as OPM’s Safety & Health Manager for many
years and was an inspiration to all.
The 1996 recipient, Dale Williams, was recognized for his
dedication and concern for all OPM employees and his efforts
enabling the OPM Safety Program achieve strong results in 1996.
In honor of being recipient of the Annual Don Weidner Safety &
Health Award, Williams received an inscribed decorative plaque.

Civil War Round
Table meets March 19
The monthly meeting of the
Wyoming Valley Civil War
Roundtable will be held at the
Dallas Sr. High School on March
19 at 7 p.m. in the school library.
George A. Turner will lecture on
his book “Letters From Columbia
County”, as well as speak on the
“Fishing Creek Expedition” which
involved draft resisters of the
Bloomsburg area during the Civil
War. In addition to the program,
there will be a book exchange and
50/50 raffle drawing. Anyone
who wishes to bring Civil War
related books or material for ex-
change is asked to do so.
The meeting is open to anyone
with an interest in America’s Civil
War. There is no charge for mem-
bers and a $2 donation for non-
members. Membership is open to
allwho have interest and dues are
$12 per year.
