Each groop was responsible for a country; they dressed in national costumes, made national dishes and presented dances and skits from the country. This was in response to "Thinking Day." Girl Scouts were encouraged to think about Scouts and Scouting around the world. Susan Ruotolo, Troop 638, displayed the clothing of Lithuania. This year’s service was writ- ten by the women of South Korea and the theme is “Like A Seed That Grows Into A Tree.” The service is sponsored by Church Women United of Wyoming Valley and is part of a celebration of . Worship and Prayer . This year’s celebration is co- hosted by the Women of Lehman United Methodist Church and Trinity Presbyterian Church. Dallas has been sending students to the pro- gram for the past three years. At a cost of $1,585, the confer- | ence can stand in some student's - way. Baines's family sent in a portion of the amount in order to reserve a spot for her. “I really want to pay them back,” said Baines. Baines has sent out let- ters to many businesses and or- ganizations in the area for pos- sible contributions for the pro- gram. Recently Dallas Family Practice donated money to help pay for the conference. Baines, who described being in a medical environment as “fasci- nating,” hopes to not only gain medical knowledge at the confer- ence, but also to get a handle on her future. “I hope that after this, Iwill be more sure and have stable plans for where to go to college.
