Maturi, of Overbrook Road, Dallas, died Jan. 2, 1997, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medi- cal Center, Plains Township. + Born Baldassare Simone Maturion Nov. 30, 1910in Pinzolo, Italy, he was the son of the late Simone and Erminia Collini Maturi. . He was educated at GAR Me- morial High School, Wilkes-Barre. + As a young man, he chauf- feured for a doctor in New York. Later, he was co-owner of Maturi Brothers, Cutlery on Lincoln Street, Wilkes-Barre. He then moved to Frederick Street, Wilkes- Barre, where he reorganized the business as R.S. Maturi Cutlery, with his daughter, Alda. . He was a 30-year member of the Dallas Kiwanis Club, serving as president in 1961. , He was also a member of the Landmark Lodge 442 F&AM, Wilkes-Barre; the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; Irem Temple AAONMS, where he was awarded a 50- -year membership pin in 1995; Irem Temple Men's Bridge Club; Prince of Peace Epis- copal Church, Dallas, where he served as a vestryman. . He was preceded in death by sisters, Alda and Armida; a brother, Armo. . Surviving are his wife of 51 years, the former Doris Black; a daughter, Alda, Dallas; a son, Ronald, St. Michaels, MD; five grandchildren; two nephews and a niece. A memorial service willbe at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Dallas, with the Rev. John S. She lived in New York until 1966 when she returned to the Back Mountain area where she worked at Macintosh Laundry. Surviving are a daughter, Mar- garet Bentley, Westfield, MA; a son, Patrick, Wilkes-Barre; seven grandchildren; sisters, Regina Walsh, Wilkes-Barre; Hilda Bentler, Scranton. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Orcutt Grove Cemetery, Noxen. EDWARD BAUMAN Edward L. Bauman, 75, of Firehouse Lane, Lehman, died Dec. 23, 1996, at the Memorial Southwest Hospital, Houston, TX, while visitng his daughter in Sugarland, TX. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Edward M. and Margaret Madden Bauman. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. He was employed by Common- wealth Telephone Co., Dallas. He later worked as a refrigeration mechanic with the former Woodlawn Dairy. Prior to his retirement in 1986, he was affili- ated with Joe’s Carburator Shop in Scranton. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth Bayles; a son, Lawrence Edward. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. John (Patricia) Teer, Sugarland, TX; Mrs. James (Virginia) Welby with whom he resided, Lehman Township; Mrs. George (Karen) Kairis, Lake Winola; nine grand- children; brothers, Jack Bauman, Wilkes-Barre; Danny Bauman, ‘Levittown; a sister, Mrs. Ann Doban, Levittown; several nieces and nephews.
