The Orangemen were led by Christian Cobleigh with 10 points, Mitch Mitchell with 8 points and 8 rebounds, and Sean Jones with 4 points and 5 rebounds. Chase Susko had 12 points and Jim More 5-6 BALL, pg 10 Arsenal wins Fall Travel Cup he Back Mountain Arsenal recently defeated Bloomsburg 2-1 to win the Fall Travel Cup. Bloomsburg scored first to take an early 1-C lead. William Gagliardi tied the contest five minutes into the first half. The game remained tied until Tim Kerestes scored the game winner with under two minutes to play keeping the Arsenal’s undefeated spring and fall seasons intact. Eat Flames take third in U-12 The Back Mountain Flames and the Wilkes-Barre Cosmos Express, two U-11 girl's soccer teams, teamed up and placed 3rd in the Western Lehigh Fall Festival. While playing “up” in the U-12 Divison, they won their first three games. A win in either of their last games would have taken first place. GOH, St. Nicks split three games The Gate of Heaven Boys Var- sity basketball team lost to St. Nick's Red on Dec. 1, by a score of 69-59. The GOH team played without Brad Feleccia and C.J. Adamchak due to injuries. The GOH team was led by Andrew Lohin, 25 points and J.C. DeRojas, 16 points. Russ Susko contrib- uted 8 points. The Gate of Heaven JV Boys team lost to St. Nick's Blue Team Te on Dec. 4, 45-30. The GOH team was led by David Lohin, 10 points and Colin Donnelly, 9 points. The Boys Varsity team beat St. Nick's Blue Team 59 to 41. The GOH team was led by J.C. DeRojas, 14 points, Andrew Lohin, 14 points and Nick Andrussian, 10 points. The GOH team played excellent defense and controlled the boards. Both JV and Varsity teams played St. Jude's on Dec. 9. Bulls outscore Magic, stay unbeaten at top of league The Bulls polished off the Heat to stay undefeated, at top of stand- ings in week three of 7th and 8th grade Dallas Youth Basketball. They'll face the Magic this week- end. BULLS 43 - HEAT 31 In week three, the Bulls de- feated the Heat by a score of 43- 31 to take sole possession of first place. The Bulls came out with a well balanced scoring attack, and led the Heat 8-3 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, the Heat traded baskets with the Bulls and the halftime score was 20-15 in favor of the Bulls. The Heat narrowed the gap in the third stanza, however the Bulls pulled away in the fourth quarter to record the victory. The Bulls of- fense was led by Paul Dougal with a game high 17 points, followed by Lloyd Droppers and Danny Laurenzi with 8 points apiece. The Heat offense was led by Mike Domzalski with 13 points, fol- lowed by Fran Yanik with 8 points. The Bulls record goes to 3-0, while the Heat drops to 2-1. CELTICS 26 - WARRIORS 20 In the second game of the after- noon, the Celtics defeated the Warriors by a score of 26-20. The Celtics jumping out to a 8-2 lead at quarter's end. The Celtics con- tinued their scoring attack in the second quarter, leading at half- time by a score of 13-6. The third quarter was much the same, with the Celtics outscoring the War- riors 9-4. TheWarriors put on a late fourth rally, but fell short. The Celtics offense was led by Matt Eyet with 12 points, followed by Jared Karalunas with 8 points. The Warriors offense was led by Justin Bicking with 12 points, followed by Vito Recchia and T.C. Harding with 4 points apiece. The Celtics record goes to 2-1, the Warriors drop to 0-3. SIXERS 54 -BLAZERS 35 The third game of the afternoon featured the Sixers turning back the Trailblazers by a score of 54- 35. The Sixers had a well bal- anced scoring attack against the Trailblazers in the first quarter. The Sixers led 12-4 after the first quarter. The Sixers continued their scoring ways in the second quarter, and led at halftime 24- 13. The third quarter was a slow scoring quarter for both teams. However, both teams caught fire in the final stanza, with the Sixers outscoring the Trailblazers 21- 17. The Sixers offense was led by Buddy Shah, Danny Fetko and Dave Finn, with 13 points apiece, followed by Danny Krause with 9 points and Jonathan Lorah with 6 points. The Trailblazers offense was led by John Nackley with a game high 24 points, followed by Andrew George with 6 points. The Sixers record goes to 2-1, while the Trailblazers fall to 0-3. MAGIC 55 - HORNETS 49 In the final game of week three, the Magic defeated the Hornets by a score of 55-49. The Hornets came out smoking, by outscoring the Magic in the first quarter 13 to 8. The Magic regrouped in the second quarter and outscored the Hornets 14 to 6 to take a 22-19 halftime lead. The third was a slow starter with each team trad- ing baskets.
