Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Skrekut. She lived in the Back Mountain since 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard “Joe”; a daughter, Jo Ann; a stepsister, Helen Polak; stepbrothers, Joseph and John Schultz; half-brothers, Andrew and Stephen Schultz. Surviving are a son, Robert at home; a daughter, Mrs. James (Gloria Jean) Ruggere, Mountaintop; sisters, Mary Olenchalk, CT; Margaret Mizenko, Luzerne; Catherine Krokosky, Harrisburg; and stepbrother, George Schultz. ; Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton, Franklin Township. ARTHUR DEAN HONTZ Arthur Dean Hontz, 57, of RR 2, Shickshinny, died Dec. 2, 1996, as a result of a hunting accident. He was born Dec. 22, 1938, in Shickshinny, son of the late Milton and Hilda Hartman Hontz, and was a member of Muhlenburg United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Wilkes College and received a master’s degree in education from Bloomsburg State College. He was employed as a teacher for 30 years by Dallas High School, re- tiring in 1990. He was a pomolo- gist and member of the North American Fruit Explorers and the Pennsylvania State Education and National Education Associations. Surviving, are his wife, the former Nancy Lynne Bonham; brothers, George, Edgar and » Walter, Shickshinny. Interment, Bloomingdale Cem- etery. DAVID PERREGO David R. Perrego, 59, of Chase Road, Shavertown, Kingston Township, died Dec. 7, 1996, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospi- tal. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Herbert and Gertrude Wilcox Perrego. He attended Lehman Townhip schools. He was employed as a truck driver by Roberts Oil Co., Luzerne. He lived in Chase most of his life. He attended the Outlet Bible Tabernacle, Harveys Lake. Surviving are his wife, the former Lillian Barber; sons, David J. Dallas; Stephen M., at home; brothers, Elmer, Luzerne; Ralph, Trucksville; Kingston Township and a grandson. Interment, Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton, Kingston Town- ship. ARLINE WERTMAN Arline M. Wertman, 86, of Parrish Street, Dallas, died Dec. 9, 1996, at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born May 6, 1910, in Beau- mont, she was the daughter of the late Ralph M. and Lucy Fuller Frank. She graduated from Lehman schools and Bloomsburg Univer- Sity. She was employed as a first- grade teacher by the former Forty Fort School District for more than . 30 years. She served as an organist and choir director of the Huntsville Christian Church for more than 60 years. She was a member of the church board, its Christian Women's Fellowship, and the Meadows Nursing Center Auxil- iary. She also served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She volunteered her services at the center where she conducted “Music with Arline”, a weekly music program. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. in 1971 and a sister, Ella M. Schmoll. Surviving are a brother Gerald R. Frantz, Key West, FL; and sev- eral nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from the Hunts- ville Christian Church, Church Road, Huntsville, with the Rev. David Mansfield, her pastor, offi- ciating. She was a graduate of Coughlin High School and Wilkes-Barre Business School and was a mem- ber of Huntsville United Method- ist Church. Prior to her retire- ment in 1958, she was employed as a production worker by S. Frieder & Sons. Her first husband, John J. Fletcher, died in 1978. Her sec- ond husband, Theodore, died in 1979.
