MARGARET MORGAN Wyoming Sem honors Morgan for service Wyoming .Seminary’s highest honor - the Distinghished Service Award was presented to four mem- bers of the school community on Nov. 8. Wyoming Seminary Day School teacher Margaret Morgan of Dal- las, will be among those honored at the annual recognition dinner. Morgan began her teaching career at what was then the Wilkes-Barre Day School in 1942. Following the merger of the Wilkes- Barre Day School merged with Wyoming Seminary in 1951, Mor- gan continued teaching at Wyo- ming Seminary Day School throughout the 1950s. A gradu- ate of Mansfield University and the University of Pennsylvania, Morgan was an inspired teacher who played a vital role in the lives of generations of students. Her English, French and ancient his- tory classes are still rememberd warmly by her students. Reading program participants recognized Recently the students at the Lake-Lehman Middle Level Education Building who participated in the summer reading program were recognized for their achievements. The reading program is sponsored by the elementary P.T.A. and the seventh grade language arts department. Each student who met the requirements was given a certificate and a movie pass. Fire safety at Westmoreland The student body from Westmoreland Elementary School recently participated in a Fire Prevention Safety Program presented by members of the Trucksville Volunteer Fire Co. Fire chief, Bill Eck’s presentation included all aspects of fire preven- tion and discussed what to do in case of a fire. Several older students were allowed to demonstrate the proper use of a fire extinguisher, when a small fire was intentionally started. On hand, helping with the demonstration of this and other fire equipment were firemen Steve Mathers, Craig Hardik and police officer Frank Ziegler.
