The funds are for use in the library's general operations, and were presented in appreciation of the library's assistance with the Women of Rotary Wheelchair program. For nearly 40 years, the Women of Rotary have made available wheelchairs and other items for temporary use at no charge. The program is administered by the library and information is available there. THE BAY WINDOW ‘Township makes last payment : on guiderail maintenance By KYLIE SHAFFERKOETTER Post Staff TRUCKSVILLE - The Kingston Township Board of supervisors has approved final payment in the amount of $31,144 to the Safeguard Construction Com- pany, Inc., for guiderail mainte- nance. At their Nov. 13 meeting, they also authorized the manager to order a 1997 Ford Crown Victoria police car, valued at $21,000. A motion to amend the winter maintenance agreement with PennDOT on Pioneer Avenue from Druid Hills to Overbrook Rd. was granted as well as the approval for the Center Street compost Site on Sundays 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. In other business, Daniel Tuck of Pinear Ave. asked the board if it had a set date to fix the gutters on his street. Tuck also wanted to know if Kingston Twp. would try to restrict 18-wheel trucks from. . using Pinear Ave. He commended :. the police department for stop-. ping speeders on his street. Jef- : frey Box, the Township Manager, said that although there was no set date, the board was planning. to repair the gutters. Many come to read stories and spark the interest of the students. “The parents have been wonder- ful. They are eager to read to the kids. They always want to come back,” said Pesta. RIF encourages children to be- come lifelong readers by building self-esteem and involving the most important people in their lives in the learning process. “First of all, reading in itself gives self esteem. Just the knowledge that they can read all sorts of books makes them feel better. My own daughter was so proud as she got better and better,” said Donna Hartman, the PTA president. RIF does not leave out the fourth and fifth graders. “They get a gift - certificate to buy a book at the’. book fair if they read four books a; semester. We try to get the older * kids to read different kinds of books. But, we try not to push them too much because we don't: want to interfere with their other:* + school work," explained Hartman.
