Lehman, Dallas bands prepare for Atlantic ® Coast Championship By MICHAEL TWICHELL Post Correspondent NANTICOKE - The Lake-Leh- man and Dallas high school marching bands emerged from this past Sunday's Tournament Of Bands (T.0.B.) Chapter VII Championship band competition with varying degrees of success. Lehman, under the direction of Edward A. Richards, once again took first-place in Group II com- petition with a score 0f 96.25, and also took Best Drum Major, Best Percussion, and Best Auxiliary (Color Guard) honors in Group II. “I'm very pleased with our show- ing today,” said Richards. Dallas band director Todd L. Hunter was also satisfied with his ensemble’s finish in third-place in Group I with a score of 87.45. “I'm very happy for the kids, and pleased that we've come this far,” said Hunter. Dallas also took sec- ond-place Auxiliary in Group I. Both bands have earned re- turn trips to this coming weekend's annual Atlantic Coast Championships (A.C.C’s) compe- tition, to be held November 9&10 at Lackawanna County Stadium i in Moosic. “We met our goal in qualifying again this year, so we're going to work on cleaning up our show this week in preparation for Sun- day,” said Hunter. According to Richards, “We' re going after our ninth first-place finish at A.C.C’s, so we're going to be practicing hard this week.” The current record for A.C.C’s is Signi first-place finishes. Atlantic Coast Championship's is a two-day event featuring 25 bands from several states partici- pating in each group. Group II, featuring Lake- Lehman, begins Saturday, Nov. 9 at 9:00 a.m. Group I, featuring Dallas, begins on Sunday, Nov.10 at 9:00 a.m. You may contact your schools band director for further informa- tion.
