Girl Scouts tour New England Cadette Troop 677 from Gate of Heaven School went on a six day, five night trip to Boston, Plymouth and Cape Cod this summer. The 12 girls and three leaders walked the Freedom Trail, sailed on the USS Constitution, rode the Boston subways and boats with a train ride to the “witch” town of Salem. They visited the New England Aquarium, Boston Tea Party, Bunker Hill, the site of the Boston Massacre, Paul Revere’s House and the famous Old North Church. After seeing 18 whales on Captain John’s whale watch in Plymouth they spent a day at the beach and sightseeing Plymouth Plantation. An expedition on the boat Oceanquest along with visiting the labs of Woods Hole Biological Institute gave us first hand learning about sea life. Casterline of RD 4, Dallas celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary Saturday, Oct. 19. They were married Oct. 19, 1934, in the Courtdale Methodist Church parsonage by the Rev. Richard Daney. Their attendants were the late Dorothy Eustice Coburn and the late James Casterline. Mrs. Casterline is the former Elizabeth Eustice of Edwardsville. LOWRY PUCKEY JEAN FADER Artists will exhibit in Dallas The Pennsylvania En Plein Air Society will hold their 4th Annual Members’ Exhibit from Oct. 27 through Nov. 2 at Sue Hand's Imagery, Main Street, Dallas. Over 30 members will exhibit their most recent artworks fea- turing local scenes and vacation landscapes painted in the tradi- tion of “en plein air,” a classical French term meaning “in the open " All of the artwork is created outside, on location. “We paint light, weather, atmosphere, and our reaction to our subjects as well as the view itself,” says Sue Hand, founder and chairperson of the Society. The paintings and drawings will represent a variety of media, including oil, alkyd, watercolor, graphite, pastel and mixed media. The exhibitors range in experience from professional artists to hobbyists and art stu- dents, but all are dedicated to the art of plein air painting.
