Funds for Polish Olympic bobsled team sought Poland's Olympic bobsled team is looking to the United States for help in its quest to reach the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan. Harveys Lake resident William “Bud” Hoblak, has formed the Polish- American Bobsleigh Federation to raise money for the Polish team. He estimates that it will cost $125,000 to $150,000 to get them to the Olympics. The new organization has been granted non-profit status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, which will allow donors to make fully tax deductible contributions. Poland's economic problems have made it impossible for their government to provide the broad support for athletics that existed under Communist governments. To donate to the Polish bobsled team send contributions to the Polish American Bobsled Federation, 155 Main St., Shavertown, PA 18708.
