Representatives of Telemedia will be present to address the concerns of residents serviced by their company. The hearing is the first step in negotiations with the township of a new franchise agreement. All residents interested in this issue are invited to attend to offer their comments to the represen- tatives of Telemedia. Sewer authority to file liens The Lehman Township Sewer Authority members unanimously agreed to file municipal liens against the properties of accounts delinquent one year or more. Liens are to be filed against Harold R. Grey, John Brian Grey, and Wendy Sue Martin for $523.31 for prop- erty on 42nd Street; Robert F. Richards for $318.93 for property on Idetown Road and Richard and Tammy Ruger for $324.70 for property on Briarcrest Drive. Since these are repeat delin- quents against whom liens have been filed before, the authority's solicitor was directed to make a determination as to whether or not the cost of drawing up the liens and the filing fees were re- coverable by the authority. Board members said 98 percent of its customers accounts are paid to date. The Lehman Township Munici- pal Authority meets regularly on the fourth Monday of the month at 7 p.m. in the Lehman Township municipal building. According to Kingston Town- ship police, a 1992 Mazda Protege operated by Dallas resident Raymond Khoudary, 36, was in- volved in an accident with a 1990 Chevrolet Beretta operated by Trucksville resident Susan Swire, 16, on Rt. 309 and Center St. Aug. 29 shortly after 9 p.m. Police said as Swire attempted to turn from the highway's southbound turning lane onto Center St., her car struck the Khoudary car, which was travel- ing north on the highway. The impact caused Swire’s car to spin 180°. Both drivers and Malak Khoudary, 31, a passenger in her husband's car, reported minor injuries to police. Officer Franklin Buckler inves- tigated the incident. Dallas Borough CAR REAR-ENDS CONSTRUC- TION VEHICLE Police are investigating an ac- cident Aug. 29 at 8:44 a.m. on Rt. 415in front of One on One Fitness Center. Jane Harvie Saba, 35, of RR 4 Dallas, the operator of a 1995 Chrysler sedan, told police she was driving south on the highway and trying to put her coffee cup into a holder near the car's center console when she looked up and saw a 1988 Ford pickup truck pulling a Ditch Witch, which her car struck in the rear end. Two employees of the truck's owner, Kuharchick Construction of Exeter, were injured. Saba was cited for careless driv- ing by investigating officer Russ Devens. CAR WITH FAULTY BRAKES HITS THREE VEHICLES The driver ofa 1985 Ford Tempo ~ which struck three other cars Aug. 29 shortly after noon has been cited for careless driving and op- erating faulty equipment. Harveys Lake resident George W. Nichols, Jr., 16, told police he was driving south on Rt. 309, lost his brakes and began to swerve in and out of traffic. He tried to slow his vehicle by turning into the Dallas Shopping Center and struck a 1989 Chevrolet Corsica operated by Edwin Wright, 80, of RR 2 Dallas. Nichols’s car then jumped a curb at the shopping center's entrance, struck a 1994 Plymouth Sundance owned by. Donna Marie Wilk of Wilkes-Barre, | then pushed it into a 1990 Toyota | Tercel owned by Helen Skapura of RR2 Dallas. The Toyota and the , Sundance were parked. Nichols also told police he knew something was wrong with his brakes before they failed. Witnesses told police Nichols ' was driving at a high rate of speed, : which one estimated at about 50 | mph. His car also had no rear win- dow, police noted. Both drivers and Dorothy Wright, 79, a passenger in Edwin | Wright's vehicle, were taken to the hospital by ambulance. “. DRIVER CITED IN REAR-END ACCIDENT Henry L. Stanski, 81, of Plains, | was cited for careless driving after a rear-end accident Aug. 30 at 10:20 a.m. He told police he was driving his 1990 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Rt. 309 at the intersec- tion with Rt. 415 when he tried to stop but his “brakes didn’t grab in time.” His truck struck the rear end of a 1986 Mazda sedan oper- ated by James Passetti, 26, of Wilkes-Barre. Police said the damage to Passetti's car indicated that Stanski was traveling at a high rate of speed. Investigating officer Russ Devens cited Stanski for careless driving. N.E. He was arrested March 16 by Kingston Township officer Walter Davis and Dallas Township pa- trolman Doug Higgins after hit- ting two cars on Rte. 309 in Kingston Township, leaving the scenes at a high rate of speed and driving north in the center and southbound lanes of Rte. 415. Police said he drove between 70 and 75 mph in a zone posted PRISONER ESCAPES FROM DALLAS STATE PRISON Carl Wells, 31, a prisonerat the State Correctional Institution at Dallas, was charged with escape for 40 mph. At one point Higgins had to swerve his cruiser into a parking lot to avoid a collision with Scull’s pickup truck, accord- ing to court records. Paint scrapings on the pickup truck matched the colors of the two cars involved, police said. After failing field sobriety tests, Scull took a blood test which showed his blood alcohol level to be .204, more than twice the legal limit of .10. His case was sent to Luzerne County Court. Samuel A. Wilkins, 29, was arrested July 1 after a knife made from two razor blade ends embed- ded into the melted end of a tooth- brush was found wrapped in pa- perand hidden in a trash can.
