Doc Severinsen, the supremely talented trumpet player and former music director for the “Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson,” will join the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic August 3, at the Montage Mountain Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. For the always colorful Severinsen, this concert is a bit of a homecoming, as he once was a trumpet player in the Scranton Philharmonic in the late 1950's when Skitch Henderson directed the orchestra. Interestingly, Henderson went on to become music director for “The Tonight Show” until 1967, when Severinsen, then a refreshments of all kinds. Friday night will feature a dance perfor- mance by the Major Performing Arts Center and on Saturday night will offer a beauty contest to select OD: Open discussion; OS: Open speakers.
