Interment, Maple Grove Cem- etery, Pikes Creek. SYDNEY J. CURRAN, M.D. Dr. Sydney J. Curran died July 16, 1996, at the home of his daughterafteranine-monthbattle with acute leukemia. Dr. Curran, was born in Holyoke, MA on Feb. 23, 1923, the only child of the late Sidney S. and Clare Murphy Curran, then residents of New Britain, CT. where he attended local schools. He was a graduate of Scarborough (NY) School, Yale University (Class of 1945) and Albany (NY) Medical School (Class of 1947). He served in the U.S. Navy in WW Il and in the US Public Health Service during the Korean War. In 1975, he moved to the Wilkes-Barre Veterans Adminis- tration Medical Center, where he served as Chielof Orthopedic Ser- vices until his retirement in 1986. During his retirement he was active in the Greater Wyoming Valley Audubon Society, as trea- surer, the Sierra Club and other conservationist activity. He was very involved with developing his family genealogy, with marked success. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, the late Anita Farnsworth, formerly of Dover, NJ. He is survived by a daughter, Cathleen Curran Myers, Esq., of Camp Hill, PA and a son, Sidney J. Curran of White Hall, MD, six grandchildren; brother-in-law Philip Farnsworth of Phoenix, AZ and several nieces and nephews.
