He was arrested Jan. 18 by Lake Twp. patrolman John Young at the scene of a two-vehicle acci- dent, but the charge was dis- missed because police couldn't prove he was actually driving one of the cars involved, according to _ District Magistrate James Tupper. ‘Luketic had refused to take a ‘blood alcohol test, which results in the automatic loss of one's driver's license for a year under ‘state law. He may appeal the sus- pension, Tupper said. Related citations for driving without a license, driving an un- registered vehicle and not having a valid plate for the car were dis- missed. Ablood test showed her blood alcohol level to be .11. She was represented by attorney Theodore Krohn and is free on $300 bail. e Sean Lickers, 27, Wilkes- Barre, was arrested April 27 by Dallas Borough patrolman Will- iam Norris after police observed him speeding and weaving in and out of traffic on Route 309. After failing field sobriety tests, he took a blood test which showed his blood alcohol level to be .152. He was also cited for careless driving. Represented by Joseph Carmody, he is free on $300 bail. Keith R. Thomas, 3}, Shavertown, was arrested March 21 by Dallas Twp. chief Carl Miers after another driver observed him driving erratically on Route 309, nearly striking a tractor-trailer, and called police. Police located the vehicle, owned by A&A Auto, in the A&A parking lot. The person in charge told police Thomas had just re- turned to the store after making several deliveries. During a rou- tine search of the car police recov- ered an opened cold case of 12-oz. cans of beer, with five cans miss- ing. Thomas was represented by attorney John Dougherty. e Walter R. Smith, 48, Wilkes- Barre, who was arrested May 24 by Kingston Twp. officer James Ibbotson after police timed him driving 57.3 mph in a 35 mph zone, with his car only halfway in the proper driving lane. When police pulled him over, Smith said, “You got me! I give up!” He refused to take field sobreity tests, but agreed to take a blood test. He was also cited for not driv- ing in the proper traffic lane. A related charge of disorderly con- duct was dismissed. Dr. Joseph Mazula, an oral surgeon who gave an inhaled an- esthetic to Jonathan Walski al the office of Dr. William Watkins. is licensed to practice dentistry and give all types ol anesthetic through the Board of Dentistry. an arm of the Department of State's 27-board occupational li censing division. The board suspended Mazula's licenses for 30 days May 14 and Watkins's licenses to practice den- tistry and administer nitrous ox- ide May 17. After a hearing last week, it voted to continue Mazlua's sus- pension for another six months. pending the outcome of [urther investigation. Watkins's hearing before the board is scheduled for June 14. “I's not a routine thing - in the past four years we have issued only two such suspensions,” said Board of Dentistry press secre- tary David Hixson. Jonathan, 3, died May 1 at Watkins's office from a reaction to the anesthetic, according to the results of an autopsy performed the same day by Luzerne County coroner Dr. George Hudock. Ac- cording to the investigation, nei- ther dentist had the monitoring and emergency resuscitation equipment required by the state. A criminal investigation by Dallas’ Borough police chief Jack Fowler and Luzerne County de- tective Richard Capitano is con- tinuing, according to district at- torney Peter Paul Olszewski. No criminal charges have been filed.
