Taking my clas well - that's the priority. 1 want to cdo the best I can for the base- ball team and earn mysellsome time pitching whether it's | startingorreliev- ing. What type of ball will you play this summer. what will you be working on the most and do you think you'll develop another pitch for college? I'll be playing for Orloski's. They have teams in two collegiate sum- mer leagues. I'll be concentrating on sharpening up my pitching and tuning up my hitting. As far as developing another pitch, I'll wait to see what the Penn State coaches have to say. You had an excellent high school career, yet if you could change one thing about it, what would that be? Beating Valley View when [ was asophomore and winning the dis- trict baseball championship. Your last game in a Dallas uni- d doing form there's two outs, a runner on, Kevin McDonald at the plate, Hazleton is up by one and you're on deck - do you recall what was going through your mind? I just wanted a shot at another at bat to help my teammates win the game. If you were the sports writer, what question would you ask your- sell? Who was influential teaching me the game? The answer would be my coaches, Jack Wolensky and Scott Francis plus my father (Robert). He taught me the game and the biggest factors in devel- opment. Mike Adamshick - Lake-Lehman You were Lehman's number two pitcher as a junior, but you made just one mound appearance this season - what happened and did you miss pitching? I was going to pitch but I hurt my shoulder in football as a junior and again as a senior. I went through rehab, butitwasn't quite ready (for the rigors of pitching) when the season started. The shoulder was still sore and tense ‘and just wasn't ready for normal rotation. Right now you're consider- ing playing for Penn State Wilkes-Barre next year. What will you be working on while playing for the Back Mountain Legion team this summer and Strauser (continued from page 9) season to clinch their first ever Big 10 title. Hindelang's boys of spring opened the post-season with a ' 14-3 drilling of Michigan before being eliminated with back-to- back loses to Indiana and Illinois. Nevertheless, it was quite a turn for a team known for coming up short during the season's final week. A polling of Big 10 coaches prior to the season had the Lions at the other end of the standings - dead last. Troy makes an ideal leadoff hit- ter because of his speed, bat con- trol and patience to wait on the breaking ball. He's also been known to supply some pop too, getting to Big 10 pitching for eight round-trippers this season. Yet, just like the Lions he worked had to get from the bot- tom to the top. I'm just looking to get a lot of hits this summer and try to have a little fun. I'll be pitching some and was going to pitch (Monday), but we were getting bombed so bad it wasn't worth it. Imagine trading of players was allowed in high school baseball and one day you're pitching to John Oliver in a key game: What would that be like and how would you pitch to him? We've been friends for a long time, that would be funny. I'd throw curve balls and keep the ball down low. Maybe try to fool him with a change-up, but defi- nitely throw a curve. If you could change one thing about your high school career, what would it be? Not hurting my shoulder. It hurt me both years and held back my pitching. It didn't effect foot- ball, except I missed the Dallas game this year. Do you have a favorite ath- letic moment at Lehman? That would be hitting that 3- run home run against Meyers this year in the bottom of the seventh with two outs. (The season finale blast gave Lehman an 11-8 win over the Mohawks and a share of first place. Lehman proceeded to beat Meyers the following day and earn the conference's number top seed in the playoffs.) 1996 STATISTICS IN LEAGUE AND PLAYOFF GAMES G___ Batting Ave. Runs Hits 2B 3B HR RBI Adamshick 18 490 19 29. 7.0.5 32 Klick 14 .380 15 18 3.430317 Kunkle 14 420 22 20 5: 42°09 Oliver 18 610 87 37 10-4: 729 Your sports items are welcome at The Dallas Post GOLF SCHOOLS at FOUR SEASONS GOLF CLUB Exeter, Pa., Will be starting: Juniors - Sat., June 15th Ladies - Fri., June 14th « Mens - Each school will consist of 4 sessions from 6:30 - 8:30 P.M. for beginner and intermediate golfers.
