A AR ul AEB NR BRB Td A EF Se ’ kL” SPORTS SHORTS Butler named Player of the Week Mansfield University baseball standout Matt Butler has been se- lected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division Player of the Week for the week ending April 28. Butler, a senior designated hitter from Dallas was 6-10 (.600) at the plate in a 6-0 week for the Mountainers. Despite silting out two games with a pulled hamstring, he still belted two home runs while driving in 10 RBI's. In addition he scored seven runs and had a slugging percentage of 1.200. For the season, Butler is hitting .342 with 38 hits, including six home runs along with nine doubles and a team best 39 RBI's. Butler ranks in the PSAC East in RBI's and third in home runs. Golf tournament for Misericordia The athletic department at College Misericordia will sponsor its seventh annual golf tournament, May 13 at Shadowbrook Country Club. The captain and crew tournament will tee-off at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a buffet dinner and awards ceremony. Cost of the tournament is $49 per player and includes cart, green fees and dinner. Soccer camp at Penn State Penn State Wilkes-Barre will hold its annual soccer camp on June 24-28 at the campus in Lehman. The morning session, 9a.m.-12 p.m., is for boys and girls in grades kindergarten through 5th; the afternoon session, from 12:30-3:30 p.m. is for boys and girls in grades 6-12. The fee for either session is $59. The Soccer Camp will teach basic and tactical skills. On the final two days of camp, special sessions on goalie, advanced defensive and advanced offensive skills will be provided to interested players. Bill Tooley of Dallas will be head coach of the soccer camp, who was assistant coach for the men’s varsity soccer team at Florida Atlantic University, and in 1991 and 1992, piloted the Lake-Lehman Boys Varsity Soccer Team to two consecutive Wyoming Valley Conference titles.
