12 The Dallas Post Dallas, PA Wednesday, April 24, 1996 iit Junior Achievement will honor Dr. Wallace Stettler Back Mountain resident Dr. Wallace F. Stettler will be inducted into theJunior Achievement Busi- ness Hall of Fame on May 1 at the Woodlands Inn and Resort, Route 315, Wilkes-Barre. The Business Hall of Fame recognizes signifi- cant contributions to the growth and development ofbusiness and community. Stettler served as president of Wyoming Seminary College Pre- paratory School in Kingston for 23 years until he stepped down in June, 1990. He is now president emeritus of the school. He was instrumental in raising more than $15 million to update the school's educational program and renovate school facilities dam- aged from flooding in 1972. Stettler, a native of Philadel- phia, is a past member of the board of directors and the execu- tive committee of the National Assocation of Schools, Colleges and Universities of the United Methodist Church and served on the University Senate. He founded the University Senate's Commis- sion on College Preparatory Schools. Dr. Stettler served as a 27 year member of the board of trustees of Lycoming College in Williamsport. He serves on the Wilkes Univer- sity Council, the Leadership Wilkes-Barre steering committee and the board of directors of the Wilkes-Barre YMCA. He is secretary of the board of directors of the F.M. Kirby Center for The Performing Arts, and vice president of the board of the North- eastern Pennsylvania Philhar- monic. Dr. Stettler and his wife, Sue, reside in Dallas. Area art show winners announced The Tudor Book Shop & Cafe Gallery celebrated Youth Art Month in March with a student art show featuring art works from students in grades 7-12. Winners received prizes and certificates. Back Mountain winners were: Jon Meehan of Dallas High School for Best of 10th Grade; Alisa Harub of Dallas High School for Best of 11th Grade and Jessica Kozemko of Dallas High School for Best of 12th Grade. Young poets are published Several fifth grade students of Dallas Elementary English teacher Mrs. Mary Nulton have had their work selected to be published in The Anthology of Poetry. The poems are part of a year long study of writing. Nulton is a 1988 fellow of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Writing Project and is a teacher/consultant with that organization.
