Election Day lunch at Trucksville church The United Methodist Women of the Trucksville United Method- ist Church will serve lunch on Election Day, April 23, from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Menu will include homemade vegetable-beef and vegetarian vegetable soup, chicken ala king, ham barbecue, hot dogs, dessert, coffee, tea and soda. Diabetes Ass'n to host Medicine Ball The Luzerne County Chapter of American Diabetes Association will host its second annual Medi- cine Ball April 26, at Genetti's Best Western Hotel and Conven- tion Center, to raise money to find a cure for diabetes. The Medicine Ball will begin with cocktails at 6:30 p.m. fol- lowed by dinner, a brief program and dancing until 11 p.m. with music provided by George Task Orchestra. Tickets are $100 per person. Dallas, PA Wednesday, April 17, 1996 7 Area artists display work Drawings and paintings by Back Mountain residents Laura Vodzak and Krystin Kopen will be on display in the lobby of Mellon Bank, Main Street, Dallas, during April. Vodzak is exhibiting several realistic works in watercolor, oil, and graphite, including a large watercolor painting of running giraffes and a watercolor portrait. She works in all of the major drawing and painting mediums and has been studying art for the past eight years. Vodzak is an honor student in the Dallas School District, amem- ber of the Cider Painters of America and a member of a local artists’ Bible Study. She is the daughter of John and Ann Vodzak of Dallas. Krystin Kopen has been taking art lessons for seven years and works in watercolor, ink, oils, mixed media, graphite and col- ored pencil. She is exhibiting works in watercolor and oils, in- cluding a set of watercolor botani- cal studies, a watercolor night- time scene and an oil still life. An honor student at Wyoming Seminary, Kopen also studies pi- ano at the Wilkes Conservatory. She is the daughter of Dan and Kathy Kopen of Shavertown.
