The basketball team is still alive in the playoffs at the state level, but could have been even more dangerous with another offensive threat from the outside. The Lady Mounts lost a couple of close games during divisional play this “past winter, in which a couple of 3:pointers could have made the difference. If she could have had just one moment to shine this year, like Kirk Gibson's pinch hit game-win- ning home run during his only appearance in the 1988 World Series, it would have been to bail out the Dallas hoopsters. “The last few games of the bas- ketball season and even in the playoffs I would ask coach Barbacci to put me for the last 20 seconds and let me shoot a 3- pointer,” Carrie said. “Every game she just says ‘No, Fetterman.™ Carrie's first major injury also ~ rearranged her plans for college. “I was just hoping thal some “college would notice me," she said “Basketball or field hockey, it “didn't matter. Right now I'm work- ing on making a decision, I can't “put it off any longer.” Part of the commitment prob- lem is she’s also undecided on “which field of study to enter. It - seems every week her position ee Te a PEN changes on what she'd like to do after college. Carrie may enter college undeclared while also try- ing to earn at least a partial schol- arship as a walk-on. Because of her experience with the Keystone State Games, field hockey probably comes out on top as her favorite sport. “Whatever season itis seem to like that sport better,” Carrie said. “lI always liked basketball, but maybe lean a little towards field hockey. I like hitting a little ball with a little, skinny stick.” It's certainly not the type of year she had planned, but Carrie carries a very positive attitude and believes good has resulted from the ordeal. “I can now sympathize with people who get hurt,” she said. “I realize sports isn't always every- thing and I've really be working on academics this year.” In addition to excelling in three sports, Carrie is a member of the Dallas yearbook stafl and was in- volved with student steering in the past. The daughter of John and Elizabeth “Cookie” Fetterman of Dallas, Carrie has two older brothers, Curt and Chris.
