Order blanks and brochures will be available on a card table in the Narthex of the church or in the church office. Orders must be in by March 9. Candy can be picked up by March 23. VA Medical Center honors two from area Lisa Ann Burak weds Theodore R. Kocher Lisa Ann Burak and Theodore Robert Kocher were united in marriage on Saturday, Oct. 21, 1995, at Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake. The Reverend Louis Grippe celebrated the Nuptial Mass and performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Burak of Shavertown. The groom is the son of Ms. Barbara Barnes of Chardon, Ohio and Mr. Theodore J. Kocher of Cleveland, Ohio. The bride given in marriage by her father, chose Jennifer McMahon as her maid of honor. Other attendants were the groom's sister, Lisa Hall; Laura Ridzon, cousin of the bride; Leigh Lawrence, Kristine McCarthy and Michelle Alvarez. The groom's niece, Valerie Hall, was flower girl. The groom chose Todd Weaver as his best man. Ushers were Rand D. Barnes, Jr., brother of the groom; Gregory and William Burak, Jr., brothers of the bride; Scott Pulling, the groom's cousin and Stephen Wilson. Douglas Burak, brother of the bride, served as Eucharistic Minister and Marc and Francis Shovlin, nephews of the bride, were acolytes. Scripture readings were presented by Melinda Fiscus and Joan Pulling, godmother of the groom. The gifts were presented by Susan and Ryan Burak and Ruth and Taylor Burak, sisters-in-law and nephew and niece of the bride. Musical selections were presented by Supplee Strings, Helen Neylon, soprano and organist, and the uncle and godfather of the bride, Herman Bozentka, tenor. An evening cocktail and dinner reception was held at the Highlands Newberry Estate, in Dallas. A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bride and groom at the home of the bride's parents. Dr. and Mrs. Andrew Korshalla of Harveys Lake entertained out- of-town guests at a reception immediately following the cer- emony. The bride was honored at bridal showers given by her grandmother, Vera Ridzon, and her aunt, Barbara Matus, at the Beaumont Inn and by the groom's mother and sister in Cleve- land. A luncheon and shower honoring the bridal couple was held at the University of Findlay in Ohio. A post-wedding brunch was hosted by the bride's parents on Sunday at their home. Mrs. Kocher is a graduate of Wyoming Seminary and Wilkes University and is an elementary teacher in the Findlay City School System. Kocher graduated from Chardon High School and the Univer- sity of Findlay. He is the director of alumni and parent relations at the University of Findlay. Legion hosts Nite At Race March 2 On March 2, the Dallas American Legion Scholarship Fund will hold its second annual Night at the Races from 7 to 10 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Vocational Scholarship Fund. The races will be held in the downstairs of the newly renovated legion hall. Several horses are still available for purchase by calling any member of the scholarship committee or the Dallas Legion at 675-6542. Reception honoring Mrs. Borthwick Feb. 25 A special reception to honor Mrs. Alice Borthwick will be held at the - Shavertown United Methodist Church Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. in the Swartwood Social Room. The gathering will take place between the church's 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. © Mrs. Borthwick whose husband was the late physician, Dr. Malcolm Borthwick, will be moving soon to the New Hope area of Pennsylvania. She has been an active member of her church since 1936. She was the first woman ever to serve on its board of trustees and has served on the administrative board, the council on ministries and the United Methodist Women. . Her friends in the community as well as the congregation are invited to attend.
