The RIF program is made possible by the Lehman-Jackson PTA and a grant from UGI Corporation. This year’s RIF program got off to a start with the theme “Reading is Magic”. A magician presented magic tricks that involved books and reading. The summer readers, 201 Lehman-Jackson students who read a total of 4,983 books during the summer earned prizes based on the number of books read. The top reader in each grade received an additional gift certificate, with which they could purchase a book of their own. The top readers were Billy Holena, Danielle Mitkus, Kathryn Semcheski, Craig Thomas, Philip Weaver and Olivia Barrall. Future RIF distributions will occur in February and May. Wilkes-Barre Academy holds registration Wilkes-Barre Academy registered students for the 1996-97 school § term January 17, with 27 new families enrolling in kindergarten through eighth grade. Limited openings are still available. Bussing, lunches, and before and after school daycare are also offered at no extra-charge. The accelerated program focuses on preparing students for a successful, advanced high school program. Wisniewski named to PSU Dean's List Amy Wisnewski, Dallas, received a 4.0 for the fall semester at Penn State Main Campus. Amy is currently enrolled in the Pre-med program at Eberly College of Science. She is a 1995 graduate of Dallas High School. Amy is the daughter of James and Geri Wisnewski, Dallas. Area students graduate from King's Donna Supey, Dallas, Wiliam Lamoreux, Harveys Lake, Douglas @ Farr, Harveys Lake, and Sherry Wright, Hunlock Creek, recently graduated from King’s College, Wilkes-Barre. Supey received her bachelor of science degree in business adminis- tration. Lamoreuxreceived his bachelor of science degree in computers and information systems and graduated magna cum laude. Farr received a bachelor of science degree in business administra- tion. Wright received her bachelor of science degree in gerontology and graduated summa cum laude, as well as being named to the fall 95 dean's list. In November the students made a field trip to the Everhardt Museum in Scranton. The December project was the adoption of a wolf. Penn State to offer SAT review course Penn State Wilkes-Barre will present an SAT review course on Saturday mornings from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Feb. 3 - March 16 in Hayfield House on the campus in Lehman. The course will prepare stu- dents for the College Board's March 23 and May 4 SAT test dates. Recent changes to the format will be highlighted. The fee is $175 for both the verbal and math portions.
