He graduated from Lehman High School, class of 1938 and was an avid deer hunter. He lived in Buffalo, NY and Rochester, NY for 25 years before returning to the area in 1987. He was employed as a truck driver by Acme Markets, Midwest Freight, M&G Convoy and Nisner's Department Store, Rochester, before retiring nine years ago. He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church, Harveys Lake, and the Harveys Lake Rod and Gun Club Inc. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold, and a great- grandson, Jason G. Born Aug. 18, 1921 in Scranton, he graduated from Fairview High School, Mountaintop. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War Il, serving in the South Pacific. He worked for Jersey Central Railroad for more than 30 years and for Proctor & Gamble Co., Mehoopany from 1972 to 1980, before retiring. He and his wife, the Yormer Elizabeth Stiles, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary onJuly 3, 1995. He had lived in Noxen since 1951. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert, during World War II. Surviving in addition to his wife, are his son, Jacque, Noxen; daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Judith) Polachek, Dallas; Mrs. Frederick (Janice) Boston, Noxen; 10 grand- children; six great-grandchildren. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the former Nellie Honeywell of Noxen and the late Welford Scouton. He was a 1958 graduate of the former Lake-Lehman Noxen High School and attended Wilkes Col- lege. He graduated from Penn State University with an associate's degree in drafting and later attended Lehigh University. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserve. He was a member of Kingston Lodge 395 F&AM; the Irem Temple, where he was active in the Clowns Unit and served as president from 1981 to 1982; the Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; AAONMS, Wilkes-Barre. Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife, the former Janet Woltle; a daughter, Katie Youells, Dallas; a son, James W. He and his wife, the former Carolyn Jones celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary on Nov. 24, 1995.
