DAWE LLHS Student Correspondent Lily Korbeil, a student at Lake- Lehman Senior High, recently participated in a contest spon- sored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Forty-Fort Chapter. She placed second at the District Fi- nals. Students had to write about what they considered America’s calling to be. Several people wrote about subjects such as joining the armed forces or helping chil- dren become what they want to. Lily's winning speech consid- ered America's calling to be “be- lieving in yourself, your dreams and your future.” She will receive amonetary prize for her placing in the finals. From Lily's American studies class, taught by John Comitz and Jane Smityh, various teachrs chose the seven speeches that they judged best. The six other students were Mielissa Mitchell, Amber Posatko, Niki Cornell, Danielle Conte, George Frank and Christina Farrell.
