He be- lieves the media not only perpetu- ate but intensify stereotypes of women and violent behavior to- ward women by men. Through a combined sponsor- ship of the student activities of- fice, the Diversity Institute and the athletics department, Katz will appear at College Misericordia October 19 at 8 p.m. in Walsh Auditorium. The audience will have an opportunity to ask Katz questions following the lecture. The program is free and open to the public. : Katz spoke at Misericordia last March as part of the celebration of Women's History Month. After his presentation, which was at- tended mainly by women, college and student leaders decided to bring him back, this time to focus his message on male members of’ the community. According to his previous lec- ture, Katz believes men learn, through the negative presenta- tions of women in the media ana in society in general, to despise anything considered feminine in themselves.
