Section 2 Wednesday, October 18, 1995 By LEN KRYESKI Sports Writer LEHMAN - Rain spoiled some of the activities at Lake-Lehman’s homecoming contest with Bishop Hoban last Saturday, but the Black Knights didn't let it slow down their potent offense. Lehman came away with a 42-7 win, their sixth against a single loss. The Knights needed just four plays from scrimmage to jump out toa 14-0 lead. On the second play of the game, senior John Oliver ran the quarterback option 63 yards down the left sideline for a score. They used another long run on their second play of the second series to add to the lead. This time it was senior fullback Mike Adamshick going 30 yards for a touchdown. Oliver finished the contest with three rushing touchdowns and . five extra points giving him 23, more than half of Lehman's poin total. The signal caller rushed for 101 yards and passed for 141 more on just six completions. The starting backfield trio combined for 259 yards rushing. Adamshick chipped in 72 while tailback Mike Pitcavage picked up 86 on 12 carries. Lehman's record stands at 6-1 and a touchdown shy of being undefeated. They're averaging 30.6 points a game and have beaten a number of quality oppo- nents including Hanover, G.A.R. The balanced offensive attack was led by the fine running of Luke Miller and Jonathan Nutche and the passing combina- tions of Quarterback Bobby Zaruta and to Jonathan Barbose and Paul Saxon. The entire line played well anchored by Brad Lothridge, George Sprague and AJ. Rosencrans. The Raiders defense led by Mitch Ruddy, Stephen Salavantis, Justin Sayre, Jared Swire, John Krispin and Jimmy Larson once again yielded no points., The Wyoming score came as a result of an intercep- tion returned for a touchdown. The Raiders C Team defeated the Jr. Warriors by a score of12-0. Kevin Roman nabbed an inter- ception and returned for a touch- down. Marty Murray had to break through several tickets before he scored a touchdown. Elijah Miller also ran in the endzone but it was called back due to a penalty. Ed Grundowski playing in a new position did good blocking to let his team run the ball Jonathan Baker played good defense after returning after an injury. Doug Zaruta received two good recep- tions that gained yardage for the team and Kenny Regan got an interception right before half-time which stopped the Jr. Warriors drive. The A Team final score was Jr. Warriors 12 - Raiders 6. Mike Sabol scored the lone touchdown for the Raiders. Jeff Parrish, John James and Justin Tamanini ran tough for the offense. On the defense, Steve Butler, Jeff Par- rish, Scott Miller and David Hop- ersberger played a good game. Knights spike Dallas By LEN KRYESKI Sports Writer DALLAS TOWNSHIP - The Lake-Lehman volleyball team may have ruined Seniors’ Night for Dallas on Monday, but it wasn’t easy. The Lady Knights used a couple of hard-fought 15-11 vic- tories to post a 2-0 win on the Mountaineer court. Lehman upped it's record to 11-1 and will entertain Wyoming Area at home on Wednesday in a tune-up for two big games next week. The Lady Knights will play undefeated Tunkhannock at home Tuesday before closing the sea- son on the road with the always dangerous North Pocono. At 5-7 the Mountaineers are hoping fora .500 season and their efforts of the past few weeks indi- cate that is a strong possibility. They've won five of their last eight matches and looked strong in last week's 2-1 loss to Crestwood as well as Monday's loss to Lehman. The Mountaineer's Lynn Kilduff shot the best round of the day, a l-over-par 71, and Tom Klimek scored a 79, but it wasn't enough to top a hot Hazleton squad. Four Hazleton players shot below 80. Kilduff's round was the best of the meet, beating the second-best by five strokes. Monday's match was the sec- ond in the two-day competition. Hazleton had taken a 6-stroke lead in the first round at Wilkes- Barre Municipal. They won by a total of 10 strokes after Monday's final round. Kilduff posted a two-round score of 151, and Klimek shot 157. They were followed by Justin Jumper at 167, Brian Blase at 173, Ryan Dauksis at 175 and Chuck Fehlinger at 194. SPORTS SHORTS nn DALLAS GOLF Dallas 160 - Berwick 195 Lynn Kilduff's one over par 37 earned him medalist honors and helped the Mounts pull in a 160- 195 victory over Berwick, Oct. 10. Also for the Mounts Ryan Dauksis, Justin Jumper and Tom Klimek all shot 41's. The Mounts record increases to 11-1. Dallas 156 - Valley West 171 Wednesday's 156-171 victory over Valley West improved the Mounts record 12-2 and earned them a playoff berth in their divi- sion. Senior Lynn Kilduff gar- nered medalist honors carding a one under 35 par. Tom Klimek followed with a 37, Brian Blaze a 41 and Justin Jumper 43. Dallas 161 - Wyo. Sem. 167 The Mounts continued their playoff drive Oct. 12 as they downed Wyoming Sem to create a 3-way tie for first place in confer- ence action. Lynn Kilduff shared medalist honors with Sem’s Mat Trosan each finishing one over par 37. Justin Jumper added at 38 for Dallas. SOCCER Dallas 0 - Abington Heights 1 The Mount offense couldn't pull it together Oct. 10 and were downed by Abington 1-0. Abing- ton outshot Dallas 14-8. Goalie Fred Maier posted eight saves. Low for the Knights was Jeff Farley (6 shots behind the victor). Chad Sorber and Harold Roberts followed both with 58's. Lehman 178 - Coughlin 169 Lehman ended their season Oct. 12 with a setback at the hands of Coughlin 178-169. Harold Roberts and Jeff Farley were low for the Knights each shooting a 43. The Knights end their season 3-11. FIELD HOCKEY Lehman 6 - Meyers 0 The Knights continued their relentless offensive attack Oct. 11 against Meyers whitewashing the Mohawks 6-0. Tiffany Van Scoy supplied the hat trick for the Knights. Marie Manzoni added two goals. Lehman 5 - O'Reilly 0 Sarah Kasper took control of the field Oct. 13, sinking four goals en route to the Knights 5-0 shutout of O'Reilly. Adrienne Maslow drilled the remaining goal off a pass from Kaci Ziomek. Jonelle Elgaway recorded nine saves in the victory.
