In the B-Team'’s first quarter, Dallas defensemen Jeffrey Singer, Eric Klein, Michael Evans and James Holdredge held the Eagle's from making a first down. Chris Hayes received the punt return and ran it for a first down, Mike Racoski received a handoff and ran a first down and Ryan Gryskevicz ran it in for a touch- down. The ball went back to the Eagles but not for long thanks to John Walters’ fumble recovery. End of the first quarter Dallas 6 - Edwardsville 6. In the last half of the game Edwardsville showed what they had and the end result was Dallas Jr. Mountaineers 6 - Edwardsville Eagles 30. The Dallas A-Team had a great defensive game. They held Ed- wardsville to two touchdowns and one two-point conversion. Dave Werts, Bruce Pitts, Chuck Yurkon, Shane Schoonover, and Joe Sar- aka had some great tackles. Joe Rogers and Bruce Pitts each re- ceived fumbles. Jeff Mattie and Randy Schoonover each made sacks. Fred Krispen got an inter- ception. Billy Miller knocked away a pass that Joe Saraka caught to keep Edwardsville from getting a two point conversion. Dallas O - Edwardsville 14. Next game is October 15 against Pittston, at the Dallas Senior High School. The community is invited to attend. Oct. 1 results The Dallas Jr. Mountainers faced off with Larksville Green- wave, Oct 1. In the C-Team game Dallas offense, defense and spe- cial teams fought a good game but couldn't come up with any points. Game results were Dallas Jr. Mountaineers O - Larksville Green- waves 14. In the B-Team game, Mike Racoski, Ryan Gryskievicz, Mike Smith and Jimmy Jordan gained yards and made great passes but by the end of the first half the score was Dallas O - Larksville 14. In the second half Billy and Richie Adams tried to hold back the Greenwaves but they were unstoppable. The end result was Dallas Jr. Mountaineers O Larksville Greenwaves 36. In the A-Team game the de- fense of Joe Saraka, Shane Schoonover, Chuck Yurkon, Fred Krispin and Jake Walters made some great tackles. Joe Saraka made a touchdown but it wasn enough. The game ended Dallas Jr. Mountaineers 6 - Larksville Greenwaves 22. Also a note of appreciation to the Dallas Jr. Football cheerlead- ers. Kingston Township Raiders The Kingston Township Raid- ers A-Team defeated the Larksville Greenwave with a score of 12-6, Oct. 8. On the offense, Jeff Par- rish scored on a run and Randy Knappman scored six on a pass fromdJeff Zaruta. On the offensive line, Mike Senausky, Joe Latosek, Scott Miller, Andy Ruddy and Jonathan Lorah played a great game. Mike Sabol ran the ball for over 100 yards to help the team with its win. Pocono 0 Emily Schweitzer strong armed five aces en route to Dallas’ 15- 12, 15-11 sweep of North Pocono Oct. 3. Schweitzer had 10 service points in all for the day. Angie Austin contributed seven service points. Dallas 2 - Nanticoke 0 Susan Benedetti dished out 10 service points to lead the Lady Mounts to al5-11, 15-5 victory over Nanticoke. A strong offen- sive attack contributed in the win with eight service points by Angie Austin and kills by Sarah Misson and Stacey Engler. CROSS COUNTRY Dallas 27 - Wyoming Area 28 John Crispell left the pack in the dust and went on to post a time of 17:33 to claim first place and lead the Mounts to a 27-28 victory over Wyoming Area Oct. 4. Mike Tomasura was the next to cross thelineat 18:07; Mike Lykon (18:40), placed fifth. Dallas 26 - Wyoming Area 29 Stacey Suda (19:28) broke loose and completed the course nearly two minutes ahead of all other runners to lead Dallas to a 26-29 win over Wyoming Area. Amber Coolbaugh paced herself to a second place time of 21:10. GOLF Dallas 164 - Hazleton 160 The Mounts record dropped to 11-2 after falling to 11-1 Hazleton 160-164 Oct. 4 at thevictor's home course 36 par Sugarloaf Golf Course. Low for Dallas was Lynn Kilduff37, followed by Brian Blaze ersberger, Ruddy, Latosek and Zaruta held the Larksville team to just one score. The defense was stingy, allowing only the second touchdown of the season to be scored. The Raiders A team has the best defensive record in the Greater Pittston Junior Football league. The Raiders C-Team lost to Larksville by a score of 20-0. The Raiders held the Greenwave to just six points until the end of the fourth quarter when Larksville Lehman (continued from page 11) SOCCER Lehman 3 - Tunkhannock 0 Charles Snyder sank what would end up being the game- winning goal at 17:15 in the sec- ond to lift the Knights past Tunkhannock 3-0 Oct. 3. Snyder's goal came off a pass from Mike Colletti. ‘Mark Steele had a goal and an assist in the game. Lehman 3 - Coughlin 4 The Knights nearly put together a comeback to overcome Cough- lin's 2-1 third quarter lead but fell short and lost 3-4 Oct. 9. Philand Charles Snyder turned in fine performances, both sinking an unassisted goalin the fourth. The Knights next fame will be Thurs- day at home versus Wyoming Seminary. FIELD HOCKEY Lehman 5 - Honesdale 0 Beth Turner and Tiffany Van Scoy sank two goals apiece as the Lady Knights beat up Honesdale 5-0, Oct. 4. Sara Kasper belted the remaining Knight goal off a pass from Jen Johnstone. Lehman 3 - Abington 0 Sarah Kasper dominated the field sinking two goals and assist- ing another to lead the Knights to a 3-0 shutout of Abington, Oct. 6. Lehman limited the Comets to just one shot on goal. CROSS COUNTRY Lehman 16 - Nanticoke 47 Chris Long and Jason Lyons ‘both crossed the line together at 18:05 as the Knights broke free from Nanticoke 16-47. Ralph Wasiakowski was a second be- scored two more touchdowns. Doug Zaruta played an ouisiand- ing defensive game, as quarter- back and also received several receptions. Brian Ostrowski also did a fine job as quarterback. Nick Onzik did a good job on defense during the game. Matt Kelly recovered a fumble that led toa touchdown but unfortunately it was called back on a penalty. The Raiders B-Team tied with an unbeaten Larksville Greenwave team by a final score ofl4-14. Touchdowns were scored by Paul Saxon and Luke Miller. ‘The cali- ber of the game was equal to that of a Super Bowl as both teams fought with their hearts as well as physically. Both teams refused to quitas was evident in the fact that when a touchdown was made, the other team answered their call with a score of their own. Homecoming will be held this Sunday at the Dallas High School field. The 1995 graduates and their parents will be honored at the beginning of the A game. Everyone is invited to attend. Lake-Lehman Junior Knights The Knights hosted Swoy- ersville Sunday, Oct. 8. Swoy- ersville does not have an A-Team and their B-Team forfeited. C- Team was the only game played today. The Sailors kicked off with the Knights’ Matt Koslocki receiving. David Gronski, Matt Kosloski and Ryan Besteder all had a carry, with Ryan making the Knights first down. Gronski scored an . early touchdown with Kosloski bringing in the extra points. After Gronski kicked to the Sailors, Bill Volkel, Josh Cragle, Chad Caster- line, Eric Gronski, Garrett Engle, Ronnie Ritts and Joshua Setzer all made successful tackles in the first quarter. David Gronski ran in the Knights next touchdown with Kosloski scoring the extra points The third quarter started with ‘David Gronski kicking to the Sail- rors, and Joshua Setzer and Ron- nie Ritts making the tackle. In the fourth quarter Ryan Besteder had an excellent run bringing the Knights a first down, with Josh -and Chad Cragle making yardage also. The final score was Knights 16 - Sailors 0.
