The Mosque on North Franklin Street in Wilkes- Barre is the fraternal home of the nearly 5,000 Shrine Masons from 17 counties in Northeastern Penn- sylvania. This building is of Arabic architecture, .with adomed roofand four minarets, and has been a landmark in Wilkes-Barre since its completion in 1908. It is the home for clowns, bands, marching, musical and motorized units which have enter- tained young and old alike at thousands of been said many times, “The Shrine is a parade in itself”. Irem also brings the annual Shrine Circus to the Kingston Armory every spring, inviting Scouts, church groups and hos- pital patients to attend free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the “Circus Daddies”. The main concern of Shriners IMPERIAL POTENTATE ROBERT B. BAILEY is helping crippled and burned children, by maintaining 19 ortho- paedic and three burns hospitals where patients receive free care and treatment. These hospitals are sup- ported wholly by Shriners, with no help from government or any outside agency. The Shrine of North America is building a new hospital in Phila- delphia. The cornerstone of the Mosque was re- moved inJune and will be replaced at a cere- mony at 10:30 a.m. September 2. Illustri- ous Sir Paul G. Irem Temple, invites all Shriners, their fami- lies and guests to at- tend this ceremony. The day will be highlighted Ly the “Ceremonial Ball” on the pa- vilion of the Irem Temple Country Club in Dallas.
