Transue, III, 75, of Kunkle, Dallas Township, died July 25, 1995 at the Meadows Nursing Center, Dallas. Born in Dorranceton, he was the son of the late Edward and Anna Simon Transue. He was a graduate of Kingston High School and Penn State Uni- versity and lived in Forty Fort before moving to Kunkle 16 years ago. Before his retirement, he was employed as a civil engineer by Pennsylvania Gas and Water Co. in Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of the Har- veys Lake Lions Club, Wyoming Lodge 468 F&AM, Caldwell Con- sistory AASR in Bloomsburg; the ~~ Irem Temple AAONMS in Wilkes- Barre; Daddow Isaacs American . Legion Post 672 in Dallas; and the National Railway Historical Soci- ety. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and was also a member of the China- Burma-India Veterans Associa- tion. He was the founder of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Basha CBIVA, serving as its first com- mander, Pennsylvania State commander and national service - officer. He served as the secretary of the Forty Fort-Kingston Kiwanis Club and the Wilkes-Barre Shrine Club. ~ He was preceded in death by half brothers, Roy A. and Russell G. Transue. Surviving are his wife, the for- mer Nell Makinson; son, Edward C., IV, Kingston; daughter, Mar- garet Ann William, Gambrills, MD; three grandchildren. Interment, Woodlawn Ceme- tery, Dallas. GERTRUDE LaBRUNO Gertrude Goodwin LaBruno, of Fort Mill, SC, died July 27, 1995 in the Leonard Morse Hospital, Natick, MA. Born in Beaumont, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Roxy May Goodwin. She was a graduate of Beaumont High School. She was preceded in death by brothers, Malcolm, Robert, Her- bert and Ronald. Surviving are daughters, Vicky Hunt, Medfield, MA; Carol La- Bruno, Weston, CT; Ellen Zurich, . Cranberry, NJ; four grandchil- dren; sister, Elizabeth Downs, Hackettstown, NJ. Funeral service was held in New Jersey. ALICE DAVIS Alice Jane Shortz Davis, 56, of Chapelcroft, Del., died July 19, 1995, at home. She was a graduate of Westmoreland High School, Trucksville, Kingston Twp., and attended Wilkes University and the Tobe-Colburn School of Retail and Fashion. She was a secretary in the Wilmington Area, and most re- cently worked in Personnel at the Concord Mall. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and its Women's Circle. She also served on the Admini- stration Board. She was named an outstanding member of the Daughters of the American Revo- lution in the early 7C3. She was also a member of the Eastern Star in Dallas and the Trucksville United Methodist Church. Surviving are her husband, Roderick K.; son, Chip at home; daughters, Robin P. Kelley, Wilmington; Sharon at home; mother, Ruth Austin Shortz, Trucksville; and one grandson. Interment, Woodlawn Ceme- tery, Dallas. Casterlines celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. James Casterline, RR 4, Dallas, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on August 8. The couple was married August 8, 1935 by Rev. Robert Williams in Elmira, NY. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. William Casterline. Mrs. Casterline is the former Mardella Krieger, daughter of the late James and Ethel Krieger, Kingston. Mr. Casterline is the son of the late George and Tillie Casterline, Harveys Lake. He retired in 1980 from the maintenance department of Native Textiles. The coupled has four children, James (deceased); Mrs. David (Nancy) Hudak, Neshanic Station, NJ; Mrs. Drew (Doris) Fitch and Robert, Dallas. They have 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grand- children.
