According to court documents, ;Toluba was arrested by Lake “Township police chief John Mas- loski after screaming obscenities, ‘threatening Masloski and accus- 'ing Masloski of harassing him in ‘the Penn General store. Toluba, who was in a wheelchair, had been in the store for approximately 30 minutes and “was acting 'strangely,” according to an em- ‘ployee who called police. ¢ Toluba continued to scream obscenities at Masloski, telling him his hands were deadly weap- ons and he could take Masloski down even with a broken leg. + Lehman Township sergeant Sev Jeary assisted. at The Wall at the West Side Mall in Edwardsville on March 18. On March 19, the pair and another juvenile attempted to make illegal purchases at two stores in the Lehigh Valley Mall, where clerks refused to make the transactions without authoriza- tion from the cardholder. The Mastercard was stolen from Kingston Township resident Lau- ree Bailey, who reported another credit card also missing. Dallas Township patrolman Wayman Miers assisted in the investigation. D.U.I. CHARGE WAIVED TO COUNTY COURT Charges of driving while under the influence (DUI) against Dallas Township resident Patrick Boyle, 30, were waived to Luzerne County court after a preliminary hearing July 13 before District Magistrate James Tupper. Represented by attorney Mark A. Ciavarella, Jr., Boyle was also cited for running stop signs at Church St. and West Center Hill Road and at Church Road and Rte. 309, after failing field sobri- ety tests. His blood alcohol level was .124, according to courtdocuments. The legal limit is .10. The arresting officer was Dal- las patrolman Michael Prokopchak. TRUCK OWNER ALTERED PLATE, CHARGE SAYS Charges of possessing altered vehicle plates and driving an unregistered vehicle against Har- veys Lake resident Anthony Mi- randa, who also has a Maybrook, NY, address, were waived to Luzerne County court after a preliminary hearing before Dis- trict Magistrate James Tupper July 18. According to court documents, Miranda's pickup truck was pulled over by Dallas patrolman James Drury after Drury noticed its plate looked as if it had been altered. A police records check showed that the plate, mounted ona 1988 Ford pickup truck, was originally issued for a 1982 Ford truck. Miranda told police he couldn't get a clear title for the truck, which he bought in-New York, and used the plate from an old truck in- stead because he needed trans- portation to work. The license plate listed Mi- randa’s address at Harveys Lake, while his driver's license listed a Maybrook, NY, address. DOVE Louis A. Yasenchak, 75, was freed from his car by Dallas firefighters, who had to cut the door off, after his car struck a tractor-trailer at the Route 309-415 intersection Thursday afternoon. Car plows into truck at intersection By GRACE R. DOVE Post Staff DALLAS - Trafficon routes 309 and 415 was slowed to a crawl for an hour July 13 after an accident between a car and a tractor-trailer shortly before 2:30 p.m. Police said a 1980 Mercury Zephyr operated by Louis A. Yasenchak, 75, of Shavertown, failed to stop for a red light at the intersection and sideswiped a 1986 Peterbilt tractor-trailer owned by Valley Distributing, Inc., in Laflin and operated by Kevin E. Sutton, 28, of Wyalusing. The Yasenchak vehicle, travel- ing north on Route 309 in the passing lane, passed several other cars stopped for the red light at the Route 415 intersection and struck the rear side of the truck, which was turning left on Route 309 south, police said. The tractor-trailer had the green light and was the second vehicle to pass through the intersection 991i Man faces drug, Dallas resident Christopher Morris, 25, was arrested by Dal- las police July 12 and charged with possession of drug parapher- nalia. He was also cited for public drunkenness and obstructing traffic after police received a complaint shortly before 4 p.m. that a man wearing a white T- shirt and dark shorts was run- ning in and out of traffic and jumping in front of cars on Route 415 south. Police found him in the Pump ‘n’ Pantry, with dirt covering his face and the front of his shirt. Sherman Edwards, a driver for Moss Trucking, was in the trac- tor-trailer behind Sutton. He confirmed the events that led to the crash. “The car was coming northbound and ran the red light,” he said. smelled strongly of an intoxicat- ing beverage, according to the report. Police found a 4 1/2 inch syringe in his pocket after a pat- down search. Morris was taken to the Dallas Borough police department, where ambulance crew members checked him out. He told crew member Maggie Davis he had “shot up a bag of heroin the previous night and was drinking and smok- ing marijuana during work.” He was taken by the Dallas ambulance to the Nesbitt Hospi- tal for urine and blood tests. John Morgan, the driver of a Suzuki, was stopped at the north- bound traffic light at the intersec- tion. “The white car was about eight cars behind me,” he said. “I saw him come up real fast in the passing lane — he had to be doing about 45 or 50 —- and hit the truck. He didn’t slow down at all. There aren't any skid marks on the road. It looked like he was trying to time the light.” Mrs. Yasenchak was trans- ported by the Dallas Ambulance to the Wilkes-Barre General Hos- pital, where she was treated and released. Mr. Yasenchak was removed from the car by the Dallas Fire and Ambulance Company, who had to cut off the car's door to extricate him. He was taken by the Kunkle Ambulance to Com- munity Medical Center in Scran- ton, where he is listed in guarded but stabilized condition in the trauma unit, according to a hos- pital spokesperson.
