Hozempa of Shavertown has just returned from the 1995 American Optometric Association Congress in Nashville. Optometrists, their families and guests from throughout the United States and several other countries attended the meeting, which in- cluded business sessions, continuing education lectures and an exhibit hall of opthalmic equipment. Dr. Hozempa attended continuing education lectures on pediatric comprehensive eye examination, cataracts, age-related macular de- generation and binocular vision and learning disabilities. | OBITUARIES | GORDON ROBERTS SR. Gordon F. Roberts, Sr., 64, of Shavertown, Kingston Township, formerly of Edwardsville, died July 12, 1995, at home. Born in Forty Fort, he was the son of the late Walter D. and Freda Adler Roberts. He was a 1949 graduate of Forty Fort High School. He was originally associated with his father, the founder of the Roberts Oil Co. and was owner and operator of Roberts Gulf Services in Luzerne for 34 years. He also was the former owner of Roberts Gulf Services on the Memorial Highway in Trucksville, Kingston Twp. He was a member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Larksville United Methodist Church, where | he served on the board of trustees, was a lay leader and Sunday School teacher. He was a certified lay speaker in the Wyoming Conference. He was a member and past president of the Edwardsville Lions Club and had received a 30-year pin. He also was a member of the Free and | Accepted Masons Lodge 395 in Kingston, Caldwell Consistory in Bloomsburg, Irem Temple Shriners and the Pennsylvania Petroleum | Association. He and his wife, the former Evelyn Helen Smith, celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary in June. - Surviving in addition to his wife are sons, Gordon Jr., at home; | Harold, Shavertown; Keith, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre; daugh- ters, Mrs. Linda Rossick, Shavertown; Mrs. Karen Miller,Lebanon; | mother-in-law, Mrs. Amy Smith, at home; nine grandchildren; brother, Walter D. Busch, 74, of Echo Valley Trailer Park, Shavertown, died | ; - The Dallas Township July 13, 1995, at home. 4 Born in Larksville, he was the son of the late James and Myrtle usch. He attended local schools and worked for many years as a truck driver for the Quadrel Brothers Trucking Co., Rahway, NJ. He and his wife, the former Mary Eicke, celebrated their 51st anniversary on Jan. 22, 1995. Surviving in addition to his wife, are a son, Paul Busch, Zion Grove: daughter, Connie Talmadge, Matawan, NJ; brother, Jack Bush, Plains; sisters, Gladys Mahon, Wilkes-Barre; Jeanne Sawka, Highland Bridge, NJ; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Born in Hazleton, she was the daughter of the late Arthur B. and Mary Sickler Emmanuel. She was a graduate of Dallas Township High School, class of 1952 and Mansfield State College, 1956; received her graduate degree from Virginia Tech. She resided in the Lancaster area for many years, serving as a staff dietitian at Lancaster General Hospital and instructor of food services at Mt. Joy VoTech. After moving to Delaware she was employed as a stockroom manager at Carlton's Department Store in Rehoboth Beach. Surviving ae a son, Paul Kitch, Sr.; grandsons, Paul Jr., Glenn, Marcus and Matthew Kitch, all of Columbia, PA; brother, David Emmanuel, Stanfordville, NY; sister, Mary Ann Sigworth, Orange; half- sisters Marietta Gay, Dallas and Jean Dymond, Roanoke, VA; cousins.
