Tim Faneck, Brian Vetter, Randy Knappman, and Jeff Emanuel each had a pair of hits for Back Mountain. Andrew Lohin pitched the complete game victory. Randy Knappman and Pat Barnard each had two hits and drove in two runs, as Back Moun- tain scored in each of the first four innings to eliminate Parsons from the District 16 Little League tour- ney. Logomaster comeba ck falls short in state final The Logomaster co-ed softball team won six consecutive games in the loser’s bracket to record its second consecutive runner-up finish at the Pennsylvania ASA Co-Ed Class B state tournament, July 8-9 in Lancaster. Logomaster, which competes in the Wilkes-Barre Rec Sunday League, lost its opening game to defending state champion Shid- erly Enterprises, 15-2, but reeled off six straight wins to meet Shid- erly’s in the championship round for the third straight year. Logomaster was looking to duplicate thel993 tournament when it beat Shiderly’s twice in the finals to capture the state championship. It wasn't to be, however, as the locals lost, 17-9 in the finals. Kevin Ball was the team’s top hitter with a .600 average fol- lowed by Bill Vivian (.583), Scott Crispell (.583) and Lisa Gigliello (.545). After the opening round loss, Logomaster saw some familiar faces when they battled Keystone Truck Caps of Tunkhannock in the loser’s bracket. Ball had three hits and Vivian, Gigliello, Joann Matt and Nikki Dibble all added two hits as Logomaster won, 8-2. Another familiar foe awaited as Logomaster played league rival Halftime Lounge. Vivian led the offense with three hits, while Gigliello and Chris Howell had two each. Cathy Valonis chipped in with a hit and a run scored to help Logomaster to a 10-8 win. Vivian continued his hot hit- ting with four more safeties in Logo's 15-5 win over Scrappie’s Restaurant. Balland Crispell had three hits each, while Patti Reed, Howell and player/coach Dave May had two hits. Gigliello led the attack with three hits and Joey Sickler added a pair in a 12-4 win over the Dirty Dozen, which concluded Satur- day's action and moved Logomas- ter into the final four. Logomaster opened Sunday's play with a 10-9 win over Selins- grove Moose Lodge. Vivian had three hits while Debbie Crispell, Ball, Reed and May all had two hits. Logomaster advanced to the finals with an 11-7 win over Pleas- ant Oil, thanks to a six-run first inning., The team will advance to the Central Atlantic Regional Tournament next month. Hosey's perfect record tops rec ball standings The Untouchables broke into the win column in the Dallas Borough Rec Basketball League with a 65-62 overtime win over The Lion Inc. last Wednesday. J.J. Smith, Dan Nichol and Jason Pieczynski each fired in 15 for the victors. Bill Cuffhad 20 and John Thomas 19 for The Lion. Steve Gardener's 22 paced the unbeaten Hosey's squad in an easy 69-45 win over Woychick Accounting. Nafty Hage helped out with 19 while Tim Sutliff's 15 led Woychick's. Cook's Pharmacy tripped the Athletic Image 47-44 behind George Marut's 23 points. Paul Darling had 14 in a losing effort. Earlier in the week Nafty Hage’s 25 led Hosey’s over the Knights. John Thomas had 17 to lead The Lion Inc. over Cook's 70-57 and Tim Sutliff's 24 powered Woychick Accounting 60-53.
