Jobe, Ph.D, tenth .~ president of College Misericordia, announced June 9 that she will leave her office effective June 30, 1995. “Dr.Jobe, who assumed the post July 1, 1992 as the first woman lay president in the Catholic Col- lege's 70 year history, said she has accomplished her goals at Misericordia and is interested in 4 pursuing new challenges. “The past three years have been an exciting and invigorating time," Dr. Jobe said. “I have enjoyed my stay in Northeast Pennsylvania, and’ am pleased to have taken part in some of the many fine community projects carried out over the past three years.” ¢ Her future plans are not yet completed, she noted. Dr. Sarah Ellen Lenahan, '68 leadership and her work on be- half of Misericordia and the com- munity. The Board will conduct a search immediately for an interim presi- dent, and hopes to appoint the interim president as soon as pos- sible, Dr. Lenahan added. The interim president will serve for an undetermined period of time while a national search for a president is carried out. Among her many accomplish- ments, Dr. Jobe lists leadership in the development of a shared governance system at Misericor- dia, which enables all members of the College community to take part in all levels of the college's decision-making process. Prior to accepting the presi- dency at Misericordia, Dr. Jobe - § served as president of Mater Dei Public conference on senior citizens' legal rights June 30 A public conference on the legal problems of the aging, featuring area lawyers and public agencies will be held June 30 at Genetti's Hotel in Wilkes-Barre, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The conference is sponsored by Legal Services of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Inc., the region's legal ald program, and the Luzerne-Wyoming Counties Of- fice for the Aging. It is free to the public and is designed to aid elderly households and their family members in understanding common legal problems affecting older persons, including grandparents’ visitation rights, consumer law, wills and trusts and rights of nursing/ boarding home residents. Legal Services will also provide informational pamphlets on vari- ous legal problems at the confer- ence site which are free to ‘the public. Applications for living wills will be taken from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is preferred for the conference by contacting Legal Services in Wilkes-Barre, 825- 8567. Bible school at Trucksville UM Church Trucksville United Methodist Church will hold its vacation Bible school June 26-30, 6-8:30 p.m. in the educational facilities on Church Road in Trucksville.
